FORT MYERS, Fla. – The Edgewood College baseball team scored five unanswered runs in their second game against Gettysburg College for a 5-1 victory and head coach Al Brisack's 300th career win. The Eagles dropped the first game 3-2 after the Bullets scored single runs in the bottom of the sixth and seventh innings.

In the second game, Andrew Lauritzen got the Eagles back to even with an RBI single in the second inning to tie the game 1-1. Zack Creekmore scored the run after leading off the inning with a single and stolen base. In the fifth inning, it was Creekmore's turn to pick an RBI as his double scored Marc Ostrowski all the way from first after Ostrowski had walked.

The Eagles put the icing on Coach Brisack's 300th win with three insurance runs in the sixth inning. Danny Appino singled to score Nate Averill and Mitch Marty, who was running for Pete Hefty, after Heft started the sixth with a base hit. On the next at-bat the Eagles put the runners in motion and induced a bad throw from the Gettysburg third baseman to plate their fifth run.

On the mound, Taylor Hillmann went four strong innings, allowing just four hits and one earned run to the Bullets. Brock McGinn entered in the fifth inning and completed the game for his second win on the season. Creekmore, Appino and Hefty each had two hits for the Eagles in the win, with Creekmore recording his double. Appino drove in two runs.

In the opener, Edgewood College scored twice in the third inning for a 2-1 lead, but couldn't hold on. In the third, Ryan O'Dell and Alex Jaskulski hit back-to-back RBI doubles to put the Eagles ahead. Starting pitcher Trevor Koehn was cruising along until the sixth inning when he ran into trouble from Gettysburg College (3-2). The Bullets scored a run in the sixth on a wild pitch, and then pinch hitter Mike Elisio delivered the game-winning RBI with a single off Eagle reliever Lauritzen in the bottom of the seventh.

O'Dell finished with a 2-for-3 game, with both hits being doubles. Jaskulski's double was the only other extra base hit for the Eagles. Koehn went 5.2 innings and struck out five batter before yielding to Lauritzen who finished the game and took the loss.

Edgewood College has their third doubleheader in three days tomorrow, facing Defiance College. The Eagles will take two days off from games on Wednesday and Thursday, before closing their trip with two more doubleheaders.
