Kristopher Davis and Kevin Elwell teamed up to silence 25th-ranked Misericordia's bats, pitching the Elizabethtown Blue Jays by the Cougars for the second time this week, 3-0. The Blue Jays head home from Florida with a 6-3 record in advance of their home opener.
Heidelberg defeated a short-handed Northland team 37-2, narrowly missing several conference and NCAA records. Heidelberg pounded out 38 hits in the game, one hit shy of tying the OAC record, set by Marietta in 2000. The Student Princes had 63 at-bats, three shy of Marietta's OAC record and five shy of the NCAA Division III record of 68 set by Rose-Hulman in 1995.
The Vikings of Salem State swept a doubleheaded from Baruch at the Gene Cusic Classic in Fort Myers, Florida. Salem State won with scores of 5-2 and 18-5 to start their schedule at 2-0.
Stevens improved to 3-0 on the season with a 13-1 rout of John Jay in a CUNYAC contest on at Dobbelaar Field. Stevens pounded out 18 hits and seven for extra bases in the game. The Ducks' pitching staff also struck out 16 batters and gave up just four hits.
Redlands traveled to Thousand Oaks for the first game of a three-game series with the 11th-ranked Cal Lutheran University Kingsmen, and thanks to solid pitching and timely hitting, the Bulldogs stunned the Kingsmen, 7-5. At the dish, Christopher Scalisi provided just what the Maroon and Gray needed from its leadoff-man, racking up four hits on the day while crossing the plate once.

Mount Union belted out 26 hits in 15-6 and 14-4 wins against Aurora at Chain O' Lakes Stadium in Winter Haven, Fla. In the two games, the Raiders faced nine different pitchers, scoring in 10 of the 13 innings the offense came to the plate.
Thiel won its third straight game, defeating the Lions of Emerson by the score of 14-4. Several Tomcats recorded "firsts", as senior Natt Fedzen went 1-for-1 with two runs scored in his first collegiate plate appearance while freshmen Ryan Brunbaugh went 1-for-1 with a double and fellow freshman Ryan Price singled in his first collegiate at-bat.
Victor Munoz went 3-for-3 with a pair of doubles and A.J. Libunao had a bases-clearing triple as Occidental made quick work of Caltech 11-0 in seven innings. Joseph Kling earned his second win of the season, throwing four scoreless innings with four strikeouts. The Tigers erupted for eight runs in the top of the fourth, putting the game safely out of reach.
Ithaca began its 2014 season with a doubleheader sweep of Old Westbury at Baseball Heaven. Ithaca won the first game 1-0 and the second game 2-0. The Bombers are 2-0 on the season and will continue their season with six games in California.
A wild pitch in the bottom of the ninth inning scored Jordan Argabright to sentd the game into extras and a squeeze play gave LeTourneau an 8-7 win over Hardin-Simmons at Conrad-Vernon Field. The YellowJackets' called on Bryce Griffin to execute a suicide squeeze in the tenth and the Corona, California native answered and delivered to score a hustling Kyle Jacobs from third for the winning run.
Franklin scored three runs in the eighth inning in earning a 9-7 come-from-behind victory against Albion to open the three-game weekend series from John P. McDowell Field. Franklin trailed 7-6 after Albion plated two runs in the top of the eighth inning. Freshman Cody Shipley drew a bases-loaded walk to tie the game, junior Jameson Brock was hit by a pitch to plate Ison and junior Mitch Frey walked to finish the scoring.
Chapman defeated visiting Claremont-Mudd-Scripps 5-1 in a SCIAC matchup at Hart Park. Stellar pitching and some timely hits led to the victory for the Panthers in the first game of their three-game weekend series against the Stags.

Missed opportunities loomed large as Southwestern fell in extra innings, 3-2, to Schreiner to open SCAC play. In the loss, Southwestern left 10 runners on base including the bases loaded in the bottom of the 10th with only one out. Schreiner capitalized on a pair of two out hits to seal the win in extra innings.
Senior left-hander C.J. Tsoumakas tossed five scoreless innings in his 2014 season debut to lead Rhode Island to a 5-1 victory in the first game of a doubleheader with Trine at the RussMatt Invitational. Later in the afternoon, Rhode Island fell to Trine, 7-6 in eight innings.
Trailing 6-1, Covenant rallied
with five runs on six hits in the sixth inning but host Huntingdon
went ahead for good in the following inning as the Hawks took
game one of the three-game series 9-8 on at Posey Field.
New
Paltz State split its opening games at the Ripken Experience,
beating King's (Pa.), 13-4, before falling by a 9-7 final to
Muhlenberg in the nightcap. New Paltz scored early and often
against King's, but against Muhlenberg left the bases loaded in the
ninth after plating three in their third loss of the
season.
