Senior shortstop Sam Fox hit the first three home runs of his career, two in the opener and one in the nightcap, as the Pomona-Pitzer Baseball team completed a three-game weekend sweep of Whittier with 13-0 and 6-2 wins in a doubleheader on Saturday afternoon.

The Franklin College baseball team picked up a pair of victories on Saturday over Augsburg College (Minn.) to take three of the four games in the weekend series from the Perfect Game Turf Complex. The Grizzlies won the opener 5-4 before a 5-1 triumph in the second game.

Southpaw Emilio Calderon tossed eight innings of one hit, shutout ball to help the Kean Cougars open the 2015 season with a 3-1 win over Eastern Connecticut State. Calderon allowed just one single while striking out five and walking one.  Senior Charles Thielmann picked up the one inning save with two strikeouts.

No. 14 Birmingham-Southern moved to 7-0 on the season and opened SAA play with two wins against Oglethorpe at Striplin Field. The Panthers won the first game 12-2 and the second 3-2. Oglethorpe opened up 2-0 leads in both games but was able to hold either lead in the two losses.

Mary Hardin-Baylor lost late leads in both games but rallied for a game two win to salvage a split of a doubleheader with Texas-Tyler in frigid conditions in Tyler. Texas-Tyler had two opportunities to earn the sweep with the bases loaded in the ninth and tenth innings but could not get a key hit to finsih of the Cru.

A first game pitcher's duel gave way to a Pacific slugfest as the Boxers and Lutes split their NWC doubleheader at the PLU Field.  In the opener, No. 23 ranked Pacific Lutheran scored the winning run in the ninth inning as both teams used errors for all of their offense in a 2-1 victory. The Boxers came alive at the plate in the second game, pounding out 19 hits and four triples en route to the 13-6 win.

Junior Kevin Kwedor scattered six hits and struck out four over six innings of work, while senior Zac Cooney came on to get the last nine outs for his second save of the season in leading Mass Maritime to a 5-2 non-league victory over Lebanon Valley at Holman Stadium inside the historic Dodgertown Complex.

Two strong outings on the mound by Mike Vargues and Will Flynn, coupled with a big day in the batter's box by Brandon Buksa lifted Plattsburgh State to its first set of triumphs in 2015 as the Cardinals swept Grove City 4-0 and 6-1 at the Ripken Experience.

Earlham no-hit Wilmington for eight inings before Mike Orahood smacked a leadoff double in the ninth inning to spoil the third no-hit bit of the season. The Quakers ended up with the 10-1 win in their season opener at Randal Sadler Stadium.

The Houghton Highlanders finished their spring trip in Winter Haven, Florida with a 15-5 win against the Lyndon State Hornets. The Highlanders blew the game open scoring eleven runs in the sixth, seventh and eighth innings. The Highlanders were led by Bryan Hodge at the plate. Hodge went 2-for-4 with 3 RBI's and a walk.

Sophomore John Galden recorded a fifth straight hit in as many at-bats for Caltech but could not prevent a sweep by No. 9  Cal Lutheran.

Berry split a doubleheader with Millsaps as the Vikings won 9-6 in the first game and the Majors took game two 6-3 in extra innings.

Occidental catcher Victor Munoz had a day at the plate and Devon DeRaad hit a grand slam, his eighth home run of the season, as Occidental crushed Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, 12-2 in seven innings at Bill Arce Field. Munoz went 3 for 4 with an RBI-double and two runs scored.

Tiras Koon smacked a three-run homer and Hunter Gallant added a solo home run, as Willamette swept a doubleheader from George Fox to stay a perfect 12-0. The Bearcats won 11-1, in the first game and 6-0 in the nightcap.

Methodist baseball team earned a split No. 3 Emory at Chappell Park. The Monarchs routed the Eagles 20-1 in the opener, and fell 10-2 in the nightcap.

Jo Carroll forced extra innings with a ninth-inning home run and Finn McMichael delivered the game-winning RBI single to help No. 6 Linfield edge Puget Sound 8-7 in a lengthy 15-inning battle at Logger Field. Snapping a two-game NWC losing streak, the Wildcats rallied from a 6-3 deficit by scoring three runs over the eighth and ninth frames to extend the game.

No. 24 Misericordia opened its season with an impressive 26-7 victory over SUNY-Maritime in Vero Beach, Fla. Kyle Lindsay and Mike Comerford led the relentless Cougar's offense, driving in four runs each. Comerford finished the night 4-6 with a triple and a long blast off the batter's eye in centerfield while Lindsay went 3-5 with a double and a triple in the win.

In their first Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) doubleheader of the season, the Cal Lutheran baseball team took game one 4-2 before falling 9-4 in the second game at Ullman Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Beneath gray, rainy skies the No. 8 Cal Lutheran baseball team returned to action against Puget Sound of the Northwest Conference. The home team took the only game of a scheduled doubleheader by a score of 7-3 despite heavy rains falling over the last three innings.
