IMMACULATA, Pa.- Immaculata University Director of Athletics and Recreation Patricia Canterino announced on Wednesday morning that Kevin Schneider has been named the third head coach in Immaculata baseball history. In addition, Schneider will hold a role in the athletic department as the Athletics Maintenance Specialist.
Canterino said, "We are excited to welcome Kevin to Immaculata. He has a vision for the Immaculata baseball program that will take us to the next level. In talking with Kevin and others in the baseball world, it is clear that he is highly respected. Kevin is thought of as a tireless recruiter and a team player with tremendous knowledge of the game. Most importantly, Kevin is passionate about making a difference in the lives of student-athletes."
Schneider said of the opportunity, "I'm extremely excited and honored to be the new head baseball coach at Immaculata University. With a first class administration and baseball facilities, I'm anxious to begin building a program that will chase a CSAC Championship and represent the university the right way on and off the field. The future is bright and I can't wait to get to work."
Schneider most recently was the head coach at Saints John Neumann & Maria Goretti Catholic High School in Philadelphia for the last three seasons. While there he compiled a record of 63-13 (.797) while claiming the school's first ever PIAA State Championship in 2016. Neumann & Goretti won three consecutive Philadelphia Class AA City Championships under Schneider and also claimed the Philadelphia Catholic League Championship in 2013 and 2015. The team went to the state playoffs and advanced to the PIAA State Championship in 2015 where they finished as the runner-up.
Schneider became the first coach in Philadelphia Catholic League history to win the City, Catholic League and State Championship in the same year. He was named the 2016 Southeastern Pennsylvania Coach of the Year in 2016 by the Philadelphia Inquirer and earned the Philadelphia League Coach of the Year title in 2014.
Additionally, he helped raise money and man hours to provide enhancements and renovations to the Neumann & Goretti baseball field.
For the past two years, Schneider has also held the title of Director of Baseball Operations at MapleZone Sports Institute in Aston, Pennsylvania. While there, he coordinated the schedules, budgets and travel of all teams and oversaw the player development and recruitment within the organization. He assisted in getting three players drafted in the first three rounds of the 2016 Major League Baseball draft.
Prior to that, he was the founder, owner, and operator of Bubba Baseball Academy in Philadelphia from 2013-15. He developed and oversaw immediate success of the travel program that sent players to some of the top Division I programs in the country.
From 2007-13, Schneider was a partner and baseball director at Gallagher Baseball/GameTime Performance in Hamilton, New Jersey. He helped form one of the country's top baseball programs that was ranked No. 1 in the Northeast by USSSA Baseball and No. 6 nationally by Travelballselect.com.
Schneider was a standout relief pitcher at Monmouth University where he graduated in 2006 with a degree in Criminal Justice. While there, he set single season school records in ERA (0.74), career appearances (79), and saves (10). He was a Rawlings Division I First Team All-Region member and was named the NJCBA Division I "Fireman of the Year" as the state's top reliever.
