Senior Jack Halpin and juniors Ryan Arena and Mark Webber all homered and combined to drive in 10 runs as Babson ran its win streak to ten games. The Beavers defeated visiting Salem State, 12-5, in non-conference action on Tuesday afternoon at Govoni Field. Webber went 3-for-4 with a double and four RBI, Arena was 3-for-3 with a double, three RBI and three runs scored, and Halpin contributed three hits to go along with three RBI and two runs scored.

Rowan opened the NJAC tournament with a 10-3 victory over visiting Rutgers-Newark. The Profs are the third seed while the Scarlet Raiders are seeded fourth. Rowan advances to play fifth-seeded Kean on Friday. Rutgers-Newark faces the top seed The College of New Jersey on Friday. The remainder of the double elimination tournament is being contested at Kean. In the other first round games, TCNJ defeated sixth seed William Paterson, 18-6 while Kean bested the second seed Ramapo, 4-3.
Mount Union split a pair of road games at No. 17 ranked Washington & Jefferson. The Purple Raiders won the opener 13-7 to notch their 28th win of the season, which matches the school single season record for wins (the 2012 team was 28-15). Washington & Jefferson got a 5-0 shutout in the nightcap. The nine shutouts for the Presidents is the most in a season since 2014.
Lehman wrapped up its 2017 regular season, and went out on a winning streak as they defeated New Paltz, 15-9, in a nonconference matchup at the South Field. The Lightning now have won three straight games to close out the schedule, and will look to continue their momentum for the CUNYAC postseason starting on Thursday.
Luther improved to 13-8 in the IIAC, defeating Dubuque 10-5. The Norse tallied 14 hits and blew this game wide open scoring six runs in the bottom of the fourth. Joe Silversmith, who was named the Iowa Conference position player of the week yesterday, continued to swing a hot bat. Silversmith was 3-for-5 with a team best three RBI, that included a solo shot over the left field fence in the eighth. Silversmith not only did a lot of damage at the plate, he also picked up his third win of the season on the mound. Silversmith threw six innings, allowed four runs on seven hits, walked one and struck out three.
Scranton scored four runs in the top of the ninth inning to break a tie game and defeat Wilkes, 9-4, in non-conference action at Artillery Park. Senior left fielder Anthony Simone delivered a two-strike, RBI single to break a 5-5 tie and junior third baseman Patrick Mergel followed two batters later with an RBI sac fly for a 7-5 lead. The Royals (17-19) put the game away when junior catcher Kevin Nolan delivered a two-run double for the 9-5 lead.

St. John's salvaged a split with Macalester at Becker Park in Collegeville. Macalester hit three home runs to win game one, 5-1, but SJU battled back and won game two, 5-4 in 10 innings, thanks to freshman shortstop Michael Gruber's walk-off RBI single. SJU needs one win in its final doubleheader of the regular-season this Saturday, May 6, at Concordia-Moorhead to earn a trip to next week's four-team MIAC playoffs May 11-13 at Cold Spring and Collegeville. The Cobbers, meanwhile, need to wins to reach the postseason since they lose the head-to-head tie-breaker with Macalester.
Stevens used a four-run ninth inning to break open a one-run game to pull away with an 8-3 victory over Keystone in non-conference action at Christy Mathewson Field. Stevens starter Quinn DiPasquale pitched 8.1 strong innings to earn the win, allowing three runs on eight hits while striking out seven batters. Drew Hanke closed out the game by contest by getting the game-ending double play as the Ducks escaped the jam.
Dave Tatoian notched his 100th career hit and Nick Mulvey tied a career high with four hits, but it was Arcadia coming away with an 18-6 non-conference decision on a breezy afternoon. Tatoian notched the milestone in the seventh, with a single through the hole to left with runners on first and second. He becomes the 30th player in program history to reach the century mark. For Mulvey, he would go 4-for-5 on the day with a pair of doubles, which also tied a personal best, an RBI and a run scored in the contest. Justin Curtin went 2-for-2 with three walks, an RBI and a run. Josh Lopez hit his fourth homerun of the season, an opposite field solo shot in the second.
It was a dramatic day for baseball in St. Paul, as Bethel and St. Thomas gave fans in attendance playoff-atmosphere baseball. The Royals captured a thrilling eight-inning victory over the Tommies in game one, but UST answered with antics of their own in game two—winning with a seventh-inning walkoff to even the series and remain atop the MIAC standings by one game. With the series split, BU not only knows they'll be making their fifth MIAC Playoff appearance in the last six years, but that they'll also be seeded no lower than No. 2.
Earlham inched closer to the program's first ever HCAC regular season title as the Quakers defeated Mount St. Joseph 10-1 at Randal R. Sadler Stadium. Kyle Gorman improved to 5-1 on the season including his third straight victory over Mount St. Joseph. Gorman allowed one earned run on five hits while striking out three in six innings of work. Earlham's bullpen did not allow a run over the final three innings while fanning five Lions.
Sophomore Kip Richard's sacrifice fly in the bottom of the eighth inning brought home what proved to be the winning run as Southern Maine rallied from a four-run deficit to defeat the visiting Bowdoin Polar Bears, 8-7, in a non-conference game at Ed Flaherty Field. The win was the fourth straight for the Huskies, and their 19th in the last 20 games. The Huskies, now 26-8 overall, swept the regular-season series from Polar Bears having beaten them 6-0 in early April at Colby. The Polar Bears dropped their second straight to fall to 14-17 overall.
