Buena Vista concluded its season-opening series with a Sunday afternoon matchup against Hamline University. The Beavers came away with a 11-5 victory. BVU's lineup continued its torrid start by scoring 11 runs on 14 hits.

Scoring in the first six innings and pounding out 18 hits, Lycoming exploded for a 16-3 win over Greensboro College to yield a split after a 4-3 10-inning setback in the first game of the doubleheader on Sunday at Ted Leonard Park. Leadoff hitter, first-year Nick Reeder paced the Warriors (1-2 overall) in the second game, going 4-for-5 with a double and three runs, as all but one spot in the lineup yielded at least one hit. In the first game, Greensboro came back from a 3-1 deficit in the ninth, scoring the tying run with two outs in the inning before scoring in the 10th for a 4-3 win.

With 12 runs over the middle innings, St. John Fisher came back from an early deficit to defeat Clarkson in the 2023 season-opener for both teams, 12-6, at neutral site Falcon Park in central New York. Fisher struggled coming out of the gate, falling behind 6-0 after three innings of play, but it all started to turn in the fourth inning posting crooked numbers in the fourth, fifth, and sixth innings. Connor McHugh picked up the win for St. John Fisher, pitching 5.1 innings of strong relief. Mateo Sarabia was saddled with the loss for Clarkson.

The top-ranked Salisbury cemented its hold atop the early-season rankings with a pair of dominant wins over 14th-ranked Cortland, sweeping the Red Dragons 9-1 and 13-5 in a Sunday afternoon doubleheader at Donnie Williams Sea Gull Baseball Stadium. Just like on Saturday against Widener, the Sea Gulls wasted no time putting crooked number on the scoreboard. After five quiet innings at the plate, the Red Dragons carved a run off Salisbury ace Jimmy Adkins in the top of the sixth but that was all they would get. Luke Weddell singled to right in the eighth to score Scott Cameron and give the game its final 9-1 margin. In game two, Cortland struck first but the Sea Gulls built a 8-1 lead through four. Dylan Mackenzie tagged a two-run homer in the eighth to get Cortland back within 13-5, which it would stay through the final frame. The Sea Gulls outscored their opponents 38-6 in three games over the weekend. SU hit nine home runs as a team in the three games, with Kavi Caster and Danny Sheeler tagging three apiece.

UW-Eau Claire defeated Augustana College 10-8 on Sunday to pick up its first victory of the season. The Blugolds built an early lead and held on late to wrap up action at the Rhodes Classic. UW-Eau Claire took an immediate lead when Walter Johnson knocked an RBI double and broke things open an inning later though, erupting for five runs in the bottom of the second. The Vikings chipped into the 6-0 deficit by scoring three times in the top of the third, but the Blugolds responded in the bottom half. Chase Yaeger blasted a two-run homer — the Blugolds' second home run of the tournament — to make it an 8-3 UW-Eau Claire advantage.

Mary Baldwin picked up its first win of the season Sunday afternoon as the Fighting Squirrels rolled past Washington College 11-5. The Shoreman jumped to an early lead with two runs in the top of the 2nd on a two-run double outfielder Chase Ruppel. Mary Baldwin quickly responded by taking the lead with three runs of their own in the bottom of the inning, putting together a two-out rally. Great pitching kept things quiet until the bottom of the six when the Squirrels scored six runs off five singles, three Washington errors and two walks. Ty Webster, Dylan Rankin, Tucker Hensley, Noah Kessler, Michael Barber, and Brady Ward all had RBIs for the Squirrels. This was enough for Mary baldwin to break into the win column.

Nebraska Wesleyan moved to 3-0 with a 3-0 win over the University of Dallas. In a game with little offense, starting pitcher Noah Unger stole the show by tossing seven shutout innings. Dominic Gill matched Ungar as there was only one hit combined between the two teams as the game entered the eighth. Nebraska Wesleyan struck first on an eighth inning Zach Osbahr single which scored Carter Betts. Later in the inning, Kaleb Knox drove in Osbahr and Hunter Zielasko with a double to put the Prairie Wolves up 3-0. In the ninth, Noah Wing picked up the save and clinched a season opening series sweep.

The 20th-ranked Catholic opened up the 2023 campaign with a doubleheader sweep of Dickinson on Sunday afternoon in D.C., winning 3-2 and 13-7. This is the third time in the last six seasons that Catholic has started 2-0. After the Cardinals led 2-0 for the majority of game one, they needed some heroics to win it in regulation after Dickinson tied the contest at 2-2 in the sixth. Zach Burton played the role of hero in the bottom of the seventh inning, walking the game off with a two-out RBI single to center, scoring pinch runner Mark Villanueva for a game-one victory. The second game saw significantly more action as Catholic registered 12 hits and drew nine walks en route to 13 runs in the victory while Dickinson racked up seven hits and nine walks. Six different Cardinals reached base multiple times in the contest with Lucas Malave leading the way with three hits and four runs batted in. Freshman Michael Napolitano also added three hits and an RBI.

Claremont-Mudd-Scripps came back from a 5-2 deficit to take an 8-5 win over Texas Lutheran on Sunday and finish its trip to Seguin with two wins in three games, as Julian Sanders batted 9-for-14 on the weekend with hits in eight straight at-bats. Sanders started out 2-for-4 with a homer against Texas-Dallas on Saturday afternoon, and followed with a 5-for-5, four-RBI effort against Texas Lutheran on Saturday evening with a single, double and triple (giving him the cycle over the course of the twinbill). He then capped off the weekend with a 2-for-5 effort with another homer on Sunday, ending the weekend 9-for-14 with two homers, a double, a triple and seven RBI.

Logan Webster homered, Ryan Long delivered a three-run double, and the 16th-ranked University of Lynchburg got back on the winning track Sunday with a 10-2 win over La Verne in the closing game of the Piedmont Early Spring Tournament. Wesley Arrington pitched well in his season debut, going four innings and allowing just one run on four hits. Jack Bachmore earned the win in relief with 3.2 innings of one-run ball; the lefty struck out four. Matt Cassidy and Travis Shumate turned in scoreless outings in the late going. Avery Neaves drew three walks in the game, giving the senior eight through three games this season and 102 for his Lynchburg career. That number topped PJ Alvanos' career record for bases on balls in a Hornet uniform.

Milikin finished their weekend in Conway, Arkansas a perfect 3-0, after defeating Hendrix College by a score of 10-2. The Warriors got on the board first, jumping out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning. Millikin's Sean Shook tied the game up in the second inning with an RBI double that scored Ryan Janssen and Tommy Shaw. After holding Hendrix scoreless in the bottom half of the frame, the Big Blue bats again got to work for a 4-run Millikin third inning. Millikin pitching worked out of several jams to shut out the Warriors in the final eight frames. Matt Wilson battled to give Millikin four innings. Landon Johnson and Jacob Bailey gave the Big Blue four shutout innings from the bullpen. Christian Badorek and Drew Sutton combined to finish the game in the ninth inning.

Eric Recchia had an outstanding day, going 4-for-5 in the season opener against the CCNY, as Rutgers-Newark took down the Beavers, 7-2, at Weekquahic Park. Rutgers-Newark (1-0) used 10 hits to score seven runs while playing a clean game in the field with no errors. Armando Alvarez also had a multi-hit day for the Scarlet Raiders, finishing 2-for-3. Marcus James got the start for Rutgers-Newark and in his two innings of action, tallied four strikeouts. CCNY (0-3) used five hits to tally two runs and recorded one error in the outfield. At the plate, Chris Lamond led the way with two hits while Brandon Paider struckout three batters and allowed two runs from the hill.

Junior Hunter Cole had three hits and four runs while Junior Myles Webb added three runs and four RBI as Randolph-Macon completed a three-game sweep of Pitt-Bradford with a 12-2 win on Sunday afternoon. The Yellow Jackets took early control with five runs in the bottom of the first and Webb's three-run homer in the eighth finished the scoring for the Yellow jackets.

No. 10 Baldwin Wallace finished off the weekend with their third victory over Centre in a non-conference game by a final score of 16-4 on the Gary Wright Field inside Fishman Field. BW (3-0) was led on offense by junior infielder Nick Clark who went 4-5 with two doubles, four runs batted in and one run scored. Senior first basemen Alexis Castillo went 3-5 with a double and two runs batted in. Centre (0-3) was led by senior catcher Will Cline who 2-3 with a solo home run.

Junior right fielder Mason Satterfield came through with the game-winning single in the bottom of the ninth to propel Washington and Lee to a 9-8 win over Ursinus on Sunday to complete the two-game sweep. The Generals (2-0) began the bottom of ninth inning tied, 8-8, before junior shortstop Ethan Zulueta reached first on an error and then advanced to second with a well-placed sacrifice bunt by sophomore catcher Jon Torre. Two batters later, Satterfield singled to right field to score Zulueta and end the game. Sophomore Campbell Charneco (1-0) earned the win on the mound after he allowed no runs on no hits with three strikeouts in 1.2 innings of work. At the plate, Charneco went 1-for-2, but walked three times to reach base in four of his five plate appearances.

Lewis & Clark College used a late game one rally and carried that momentum into game two, to earn a doubleheader sweep, 15-11 and 14-2, of Pacific Lutheran University and earn a Northwest Conference series victory on Sunday. Trailing 8-4 going into the seventh of game one, Lewis & Clark scored five runs in each of the the next two innings to stun the Lutes and clinch a road series win in their opening weekend of NWC play. The Pios tacked on six runs in the top of the first of game two and added eight more runs in the sixth to finish the weekend 3-1. Junior Jakob Ghammachi had a huge day for the Pios. He went 5-9, with three runs, seven RBI, three doubles, two walks and a stolen base.

Wrapping up their trip to Carbondale, Illinois, North Central College added two wins on the day as they beat Blackburn 12-2 in the morning before taking down DePauw 8-2 in the nightcap. In the game with Blackburn, Gavin Gawronski picked up his first collegiate win as he threw four innings and allowed no runs and two hits while striking out three. Justin Rios scored three runs with Luke Lehnen driving in three. Rob Marinec led the team with two hits. In the game against DePauw, the Tigers scored two in the first half inning but Behling settled in and didn't allow a run for the rest of his outing. In the fifth, Jason Shanner came in relief and held the Tigers scoreless. Meanwhile the Cardinal offense went to work, scoring in four innings. Earlier in the day, DePauw scored two runs in the bottom of the ninth for an 11-10 walk-off win over Ripon. The Red Hawks held a 10-8 lead when Danny Sheehan led off the DePauw ninth with a double before Aidan Howard walked. Both moved up on a wild pitch. Roach then struck out but reached first on a wild pitch to load the bases. Greiner's sacrifice fly scored Sheehan. Knoll reached on a fielder's choice that forced Roach at second and then advanced to second. Macon reached on a throwing error which scored Howard with the game-winning run.

Elijah Byrd's bases-loaded RBI walkoff single allowed Jaden Johnson to score the game-winning run in the bottom of the ninth inning as Ferrum beat Alfred State 11-10 in non-conference action this afternoon at Panther Field. Nick Serce and Tim Holler both homered in the first inning to spot Alfred State an early 3-0 lead and ASU's lead grew to 8-2 before the Panthers started on the comeback trail. Ferrum got a run in the bottom of the fourth on Clayton Michael's solo homer to left field and followed with three in the seventh and four in the Eights to tue the score and set up the last inning heroics.

With an 8-4 win at Captains Park on Sunday afternoon, Christopher Newport closed its opening week of the 2023 season with a perfect 5-0 record. The Captains earned a three-game sweep over New Paltz with the victory and won the team's first five games of the season for just the seventh time in program history. For the third straight game, patience at the plate proved virtuous for the Captains as the home team worked eight walks again on Sunday. Two of the free passes led to runs in the first inning as Christopher Newport jumped out to an early lead. New Paltz cut the lead to one with a homer in the third, but CNU slowly built the lead to as many as five runs by the end of the seventh.

Eastern Nazarene snapped a 4-4 tie with three runs in the seventh inning to top Plymouth State, 7-4, in the season opener for both teams at Libby Field on Sunday afternoon. The Lions completed the sweep by erasing a 4-1 deficit with 13 runs over the final four innings to earn a 14-7 win in the nightcap. The Lions used a pair of second inning homers to take a 3-0 lead but found themeselves tied, 4-4 through six. The Lions retook the lead in the bottom of the seventh. The Lions used a leadoff homer in the bottom of the first to snag the early lead. In game two, PSU built a 4-1 lead only to see it desappear in the sixth as Eastern Nazarene seized control.

No. 3 LaGrange (2-1) surrendered the lead early, pulled ahead in the fourth and put it away with three runs in the eighth as they notched a 7-3 victory over Millsaps (2-4) on Sunday. While each team would have hits over the first two innings, neither would be able to make them amount to much. The top of the third would see that change as the Majors grabbed an early lead. The Panthers would respond in force in the third and maintain their lead with a run in the fifth and three in the eighth. From there LaGrange would go on to close out the four-run victory the following half inning.

Maryville extended its undefeated start to the 2023 season with a 9-2 victory over Oglethorpe on Sunday at Scotland Yard. Gabriel Lopez and Max Bowers each picked up three hits in the contest. Lopez recorded his first triple of the season in the fourth inning, recording an RBI on the play. Mitchell Grannan got the start for the Scots, going 4.1 innings allowing two runs on five hits and four walks while striking out an MC season-high seven batters. He was relieved by Chris Arbuthnot (1-0) who pitched 3.2, scattering three hits and striking out three while earning his first win of the season.

No. 5 Trinity (Texas) defeated Hardin-Simmons University, 7-4, Sunday afternoon to take the weekend's rubber match following Saturday's doubleheader split. The eventual winning pitcher, sophomore right-hander Jackson Teer, had cruised through six allowing the lone second-inning mark and just three hits and three walks to 10 strikeouts, including full sides in the first and four frames. Things began to unravel in the seventh but with Cowboys on the corners, the bullpen offered sophomore Clayton Jackson to slow the momentum to a 6-4 margin. Another Tinker score bookended the scoring.

The University of Mary Washington swept a doubleheader from Mount Saint Mary on Sunday at V. Earl Dickinson Stadium, winning the opener, 14-4, in eight innings, before taking the nightcap, 5-3. UMW improves to 3-0 on the season. In the opener, the Eagles and Knights traded runs until the Eagles put the game away with four in the seventh and four in the eighth. In game two, UMW scored twice in the second and three in the seventh. The Knights scored three in the eighth, but would draw no closer.

Washington University completed the sweep of the University of the Ozarks on Sunday with a 9-7 win in 10 innings. The Bears are 3-0 on the year. In the bottom of the ninth, Ozarks tied the game 7-7 as Jackson Baker drilled a two-run homer to left field, forcing extra innings. The Bears quickly answered in the top of the tenth inning with two runs. The Bears got out of a jam in the bottom of the tenth, leaving three runners stranded to hold on for the win. Kyle Coates notched the win, pitching one inning with three strikeouts.

William Paterson (2-1) crossed the plate five times during its first two at-bats en route to a 13-6 victory at Stevens (3-2). William Paterson stretched its lead to 11-2 in the top of the sixth and cruised to their second win of the season. Senior Darmany Rivas worked the first 5.0 innings and allowed two runs on four hits and a walk, striking out three (1-0). Sophomore Jude Zern surrendered four runs off four hits and four walks, striking out two during 3.0 innings of relief. Sophomore Pat Pantoliano pitched a perfect ninth inning, striking out one batter.

Piedmont left no doubt on Sunday with a 12-2 win over Wilmington to complete a weekend sweep at the Piedmont Early Spring Tournament. The Lions were able to score early and often with all 12 runs coming in the first five innings. The Quakers were forced to send out seven pitchers in the game with none throwing longer than 2.1 innings. The Lions' offense was explosive in both the fourth and fifth innings with a four-spot each time. Ten of Piedmont's 15 hits came in those two innings combined.

Cal Lutheran swept the Whitworth Pirates by a score of 5-2 on Sunday afternoon. The Kingsmen took all three games from the Pirates and improved to 4-2 on the year. Luke Wechsler opened the game for the Kingsmen. He pitched 6.2 innings and faced 24 batters. He shut down the Pirates and got the win. He struck out three and only allowed five hits. Tristan Dupont relieved Wechsler as he took over the mound. He pitched for two innings and faced 10 batters. He had three strikeouts and allowed just one hit. The Pirates got a few runs back in the top of the ninth as an error scored two. Closer Clay Rickerman came in for the final out and recorded the save.

Methodist emerged victorious on Sunday with a 3-2 win over the visiting Virginia Wesleyan Marlins in the final game of the Diamond Invitational. The Monarchs scored three runs and held the visitors to two. Austin Skipper went a full seven innings on the mound for the Monarchs, allowing just two runs to score and striking out five batters on his way to earning the win. Wesley Hall went 3-for-4 at the plate with two RBI. Hall leads the team with nine RBI through four games. Gavin Wheeler's home run extends the team's streak to four-straight games with a homerun to start the season.

Wabash College fought back from down 8-4 in the seventh inning to knock off the Rhodes College Lynx 10-9 Sunday. Braeden Bryant (1-0) got the win out of the bullpen for Wabash (3-0). The right-hander went 2.1 innings, giving up one run on one hit. The Little Giants were led offensively by Camden Scheidt, who went 3-for-4 on the day with a double, a triple, a walk, and two RBI. Alex Washlock put together a standout performance at the plate, going 2-for-3 with a home run, a walk, and an RBI. AJ Reid also helped out for Wabash, putting together one hit in three trips to the plate while adding a home run and two RBI.

Brevard (3-3) avenged a pair of losses from Saturday, as the Tornados swept Toccoa Falls College (7-6) in a pair of seven-inning games in the 2023 home-opening series on Sunday afternoon at Gil Coan Field. Pitching proved strong for the Tornados in both of their victories, as Brevard took a 4-2 victory in game number one. BC scored five unanswered runs in game number two en route to a 7-4 victory to sweep the doubleheader. Cameron Cook (1-0) made his 2023 debut in the first game of the doubleheader, turning in an impressive performance with five innings pitched, two hits, and no earned runs allowed while striking out three batters. Bryce Bowers locked down his second save of the season with two innings pitched, allowing a hit and an earned run with two strikeouts. Connor Crosby (2-0) impressed in his second start in a Tornado uniform. The freshman left-handed pitcher from Tampa, Florida lasted six innings giving up two earned runs with seven strikeouts on his ledger. Bowers pitched in his second game of the afternoon, wrapping up the win with an inning of work.
