Despite giving up a run, the Saints pitchers combined for a no-hitter in the St. Lawrence University baseball team's 9-1 win over Plattsburgh on Tuesday afternoon at Tom Fay Field.

St. Lawrence improved to 9-17 with the win, while the Cardinals fell to 11-17.

Caleb Clark was a force from the plate going 2-for-4 with two doubles, five RBI and a run scored. Noah Bolduc drove in two runs himself going 1-for-3 with a solo home run.

"I'm proud of the way the guys responded today after a few tough losses in a row," said head coach Kenny Collins "We got contributions from players who haven't gotten much playing time, which is always great to see as a coach. This is a big weekend coming up for us, and it's good to be able to iron some things out before that."

The Scarlet and Brown wasted little time taking a 2-0 lead in the first. Timothy Connor started the offense with a one-out double and was brought around in the next at-bat by Clark, who hit a double of his own. Two walks would load the base paths for Bolduc, who hit a sacrifice fly to center field to take the 2-0 lead.

St. Lawrence would get blips of offense but wouldn't extend their lead until the fourth. John Donnellan, and Stephen Colangelo would single their way aboard before Tynan Creagh earned a walk to load the bases again. Clark would hit pay dirt again hitting a three-RBI double to center field to extend the lead to 5-0.

In the top of the fifth, Plattsburgh was dealt two quick outs, but the inning was kept alive by an error on the Saints third baseman. Wein would steal his way to third ad was brought home on another error, this time by the second baseman of the Saints, who struggled to field a ground ball to end the inning.

In the bottom of the sixth, a hit by pitch and single from Donnellan and Colangelo would set up Creagh once again. This time the first-year delivered a sacrifice fly to make the lead 6-1.

The Cardinals once again was able to capitalize on the Saints mistakes this time loading the bases with two outs on another error and two hit by pitches. Sam Fosberg was able to hold them hitless and force a groundout to neutralize the attack.

With two outs away in the seventh, Bolduc made the score 7-1 when he sent a rudderless breaking ball over the left field wall for a solo home run, the first round-tripper of his career.

Plattsburgh continued to do everything but get a hit as they started the eighth with two walks and a hit by pitch. John Gannon, in his first appearance on the hill this season, struck out a batter for the second out with the bases loaded and forced a fielder's choice to end the half-inning.

St. Lawrence would tag two more runs on in the eighth as Clark delivered a sacrifice fly for his fifth RBI of the game before Brinker singled another run home.

Christian Mingione, who started on the hill, earned the win going five innings of no hits, no earned run baseball. He struck out one batter in his five innings. Danny Collins threw the next one and two-thirds striking out two before Fosberg came in to close the seventh. Gannon was effective in his first appearance as a pitcher striking out two in his inning of work. Brendan Karadenes finished of the combined no-hitter with an inning of hitless pitching in the ninth.

The Saints will be on short rest as they head to Hamilton tomorrow to take on the Continentals at 4:00 p.m.
