Knoll, Green, Pullam honored with NCBWA award

The second-to-last National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Div. III Hitter, Pitcher, and Rookie of the Week selections are in. This week’s picks, which cover games played April 24-30, went to a hitter with a .654 average and four homers, a no-hitter, and a rookie who carried a no-no into the seventh inning.

HITTER OF THE WEEK

Lawrence University (Wisconsin) sophomore center fielder Parker Knoll hit .654 (17-for-26) with 11 RBI, 10 runs scored, four homers, and a double during a 3-2 week for the Vikings, which included a three-game Midwest Conference sweep over Knox College (Illinois). Knoll put together a 1.154 slugging percentage and an impressive 1.809 OPS from the leadoff spot. He went 4-for-4 in the first game of the week against Beloit College (Wisconsin), then tied the Lawrence record for hits in a game when he went 5-for-6 against 23rd-ranked University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point. In the three-game conference set at Knox, Knoll went 8-for-16 and homered in all three games. Knoll was the Midwest Conference Baseball Position Performer of the Week.

Honorable Mention Hitter: Adam Mieczkowski, So., OF, State University of New York at Cortland – Named to D3baseball.com Team of the Week and was the State University of New York Athletic Conference Baseball Athlete of the Week. Batted .538 (7-for-13) with 12 RBI, five runs scored, four home runs, a triple, a double, and a walk in a three-game sweep at State University of New York at Plattsburgh, as Cortland clinched the SUNYAC regular-season title. Began the series by going 3-for-5 with a homer, double, and five RBI in a 10-1 win on Thursday. Finished 3-for-4 with two homers, five RBI, and three runs in a 15-2 victory on Friday before hitting a two-run homer to give Cortland the early lead in the 6-2 nightcap.

PITCHER OF THE WEEK

Concordia University Wisconsin senior right-hander Ryan Green stole the show for the Falcons, as he threw a seven-inning no-hitter in Saturday’s 17-0 Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference win over Lakeland University (Wisconsin). Green faced 22 batters in the game and struck out four. The no-hitter is the first for CUW since March 12, 2022, when the Falcons beat Bethany Lutheran College (Minnesota). The D3baseball.com Team of the Week and NACC Pitcher of the Week selection ran his record to 4-1 and 3-1 in league action.

Honorable Mention Pitcher: Andrew Schaeb, So., Marymount University (Virginia) – D3baseball.com Team of the Week and Atlantic East Conference Pitcher of the Week selection after making program history in Saturday’s seven-inning 5-0 win over Cabrini University (Pennsylvania). Fired the second no-hitter in Marymount baseball history and the first by a single pitcher. Punched out eight Cavaliers on the way to the historic win.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Illinois Wesleyan University first-year right-hander Jake Pullam pitched his way to College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin Pitcher of the Week honors. Pullam carried a no-hitter in to the seventh inning of Illinois Wesleyan’s 4-0 win over Carroll University (Wisconsin) on Tuesday. He struck out a career-high 10 batters and exited after eight shutout innings, during which only three singles were scattered.

Founded in 1962, the NCBWA is dedicated to the advancement of college baseball. Membership is open to writers, broadcasters, and publicists of the sport. Members receive a membership card, directory, newsletter updates, and official votes in the Dick Howser Player of the Year Award, Regional Player of the Year, and NCBWA All-America voting.
