Billings wins 400th game as Boxers split

Pacific opened the 2024 baseball season with a milestone victory as head coach Brian Billings recorded his 400th career win Sunday afternoon.

The Boxers had 12 hits in a 9-3 victory over Corban at Chuck Bafaro Stadium. The Warriors then took game two of the doubleheader 12-9.

Game 1

Pacific scored four runs in the third and fifth innings to take control of the game.

Walker Matthews was 3-for-6 with two runs and an RBI in the victory. CJ Colyer went 2-for-4 with a walk, three runs, an RBI and two stolen bases. Vincent Lagatta was 2-for-3 with two walks, one run and one RBI. Davis Koester went 1-for-2 with two walks, a double and three RBIs.

Will Clark got the start on the mound, allowing two hits and one run with three strikeouts over three innings.

Game 2

Pacific scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to tie Corban 9-9. However, the Warriors answered with two runs in the top of the eighth inning and added an insurance run in the ninth.

Corban did most of its damage in the fourth inning, scoring six runs in the frame to take an 8-4 lead.

Colyer was 2-for-3 with two home runs and three RBIs in the loss. Koester went 2-for-4 with a double, two runs and two RBIs. Matt Gibbs and Damon Tanner also had two hits in the game.
