Hardin-Simmons came away with a split on opening day, defeating Texas Lutheran, 10-4, before falling by the same 10-4 score to Concordia-Texas on the first day of the Mike Gardner Classic in Austin. In the final game of the day, Texas Lutheran defeated Concordia-Texas 5-0 for their fourth win of the season.

No. 5 East Texas Baptist and Pomona-Pitzer split on theie openr. East Texas Baptist and came away with an opening day split with a 16-6 loss and an 11-3 win on Friday afternoon. Both teams scored a run before rain prompted a short delay. After the break, the game continued East Texas Baptist continued their run production in the first inning after they plated five more runs to take a 6-1 lead over the Sagehens after one inning of play. ETBU came back with five more runs in the second and one in the third to take a commanding 12-1 lead in game one of the doubleheader. In the nightcap, the Sagehens were led by JD Ng who had a 3-4 night with two RBIs and a home run in the win. Jake Hilton got his first start of the 2024 season and pitched a gem against the No. 5 team in the nation. Hilton went five innings for the win and gave up two runs on four hits and struck out seven. Eamon Woods came in relief with two innings and one run surrendered while Eric Prough came in late for the final two innings of shutout relief work.
A big first inning for the Sagehens saw them plate five runs off of RBIs from Pierantoni, DeGrazia, and Nishimura to give Hilton a nice cushion to start his first outing of the season ad the Tigers never got close.

Jack Roode hit a home run and Mike Lewishall doubled to right field with bases loaded, sending three in to collect an 11-8 win over Toccoa Falls in their home opener on Friday afternoon in Sewanee. The Tiger's win gives Nate Burns his first win as a head coach in their season opener. Matt Munn registered the win at the mound for the Tigers as he struck out nine batters in 4.1 innings pitched. Luke Bishop started at the mound for the Tigers and recorded three strikeouts pitching three innings. Freshman Will Berry and Childers Winn closed out the remaining innings for the Tigers.

A pitcher's duel was in the cards as the University of Dallas defeated Sul Ross State 9-1, as the first five innings of the game were mostly quiet.  Dallas burst the game open in the bottom of the sixth, tagging the Lobos for five runs on four hits to make it 7-0 Dallas. The biggest story of the day was Adrian Montenegro. The lefty hurler carried a no-hit shutout into the eighth inning.  He left the game in the eighth after surrendering a run on three hits, finishing the day with nine strikeouts and just one walk in 7.2 innings pitched. The Crusaders added a couple of runs for good measure, and Marcello Carillo II threw 1.1 scoreless innings to close out the game.

Alma saw opening day action on February, 9th, as they
traveled to northern Georgia for a weekend series against
the Scots of Covenant . Alma dropped the opening contest
of the season in a tight game, 5-4, but bounced back and
won game two, 10-6, to split day one of the season.

Brevard took both games of its season-opening doubleheader over Averett at Gil Coan Field to open up the 2024 campaign. The Tornados utilized a complete-game performance by sophomore left-handed pitcher Connor Crosby in a 3-1 victory in game one, followed by a 16-run offensive explosion in game two as both sides combined for 28 runs in BC's 16-12 triumph. The 2023 USA South Conference Rookie Pitcher of the Year picked up right where he left off last season as Crosby delivered a complete-game outing in the first contest of 2024. The Tampa, Florida native went all seven innings, allowing just five base hits and one run with six strikeouts as the Tornados kept the Cougars at bay in the first game of the twin bill. The two sides combined for 28 runs in the back-half of the doubleheader, as a back-and-forth offensive onslaught ensued with three ties and three lead changes. Following a six-run top of the fourth, Brevard scored seven unanswered runs over the next two frames to take an 11-8 lead they would bnot relinquish.

Emory opened its 2024 season on Friday, splitting a doubleheader against in-state rival Berry College in Rome, Georgia. The Vikings won the first game of the afternoon, 6-5, in walk-off fashion before the Eagles pulled even in the series with a 11-2, seven-inning drubbing in the night cap. Junior Jack Halloran picked up where he left off, going 3-for-7 with two home runs and seven RBI across the two games while junior Ryan Reynolds earned the first pitching win of the season, carrying a shutout into the sixth inning in game two. In the opener, it was Riley Uhls' walk off single won the Vikings their home opener.

St. Thomas (Texas) opened up the season on the road against Ozarks. After two games, the Celts split the day winning the first game 4-3, and losing the second, 5-4. St. Thomas' Landon Murray got the start on the mound and delivered a strong performance, pitching 4.2 innings and allowing no runs on two hits while striking out four batters. Blake Michalsky and Kameron Craig provided solid relief pitching to maintain St. Thomas' lead. On the offensive side, Dillon McKee's first-inning blast proved to be the decisive moment, providing the bulk of St. Thomas' scoring. In the nightcap the game that went down to the wire, with Ozarks ultimately emerging victorious by a narrow margin of 5-4. The game remained deadlocked until the bottom of the ninth inning when Ozarks capitalized on a scoring opportunity, plating two runs to secure the dramatic come-from-behind victory.

Redlands won their 2024 season opener against McMurry, 9-2, on Friday afternoon at The Yard. Starter Tyler Reiter went five and picked up the win, while Jakob Russell got a rare four-inning save. With the game still close, 6-2 in the eight, Tyler Preece stepped in and hit a three-run shot to left center for his first as a Bulldog to put the game in the win column.
