DAVENPORT, Fla. -- Jacob Charon hit for the cycle Friday to lead the Lawrence University baseball team to a 13-0 victory over Knox College in the Midwest Conference opener for both teams at Northeast Regional Park.

Charon went 4-for-4, drove in four runs and scored three times to pace Lawrence's 14-hit attack. He started with a two-run homer in the first inning, tripled in the third, singled in the fourth and completed the cycle with a double in the sixth inning. The game ended in seven innings due to the 10-run rule.

Parker Knoll went 3-for-4 for the Vikings (9-6, 1-0 MWC) with a homer, three runs scored and two runs batted in. William Polanco went 2-for-4 with a homer, a double, three RBIs and a run scored for the Vikings. Catcher William Zatkowski went 2-for-2 with a double and scored a pair of runs.

Quinn Berglin was superb on the mound again as he went the distance to move to 4-0 on the season. Berglin allowed two hits, a pair of infield singles, while striking out six and walking two.

Lawrence jumped on Knox (5-8, 0-1) with six runs in the bottom of the first. Taylor Freeman got things started with a double and scored on Knoll's single. Charon belted a two-run homer and the Vikings led 3-0. After Zatkowski doubled and Zach Leslie was hit with a pitch, Polanco launched a three-run homer for a 6-0 edge.

The Vikings tacked on a run in the third after Charon tripled and scored on a double-play groundball for a 7-0 lead. Knoll hit a one-out homer in the fourth for an 8-0 lead, and the Vikings added another run in the frame when Edan Perez doubled and scored on Charon's single.

Lawrence wrapped up the win with four runs in the bottom of the sixth. Charon had a run-scoring double, and the Vikings added two more runs on a bases-loaded walk to Tate Hartlaub and a wild pitch. Leslie added a sacrifice fly for the final margin.

Lawrence and Knox will wrap up the series with two games on Saturday.
