Knox wins the program's 1000th game

LAKELAND, Florida - The Knox Prairie Fire won their 1,000th game in school history with a 3-2 victory over SUNY Canton on Saturday morning.

The Roos struck first as they pushed across a run in the top of the first, but Knox responded when Jason Clark doubled to lead off the bottom of the second and Etienne Thomas drove him home with a two-run home-run.

The Prairie Fire pushed across another run in the bottom of the third when Clark singled and Tyler Kemp came around from second as the ball got away.

Jeff Ripka worked around four hits to pitch through the sixth inning. Joe Krantz pitched a scoreless seventh and Niko Platre worked around a walk to come away with a scoreless eighth.

Lucas Fujii inherited two runners in the ninth, but got a ground out as one run scored. He then nailed down the save with a fly out to end the game.

Ripka finished with five strikeouts and picked up the win.

Clark finished 3-for-4 to lead Knox at the plate.

The Prairie Fire will return to action on March 17 as they play Keuka in Auburndale, Florida.
