BURKHART’S CYCLE POWERS LYNX PAST WASHU

The Lynx rebounded after yesterday's loss with a huge win in a heated battle against the WashU Bears this afternoon.

Junior Ben Burkhart, hitting .465 on the year, punched in an incredible offensive performance,

going 4-4 and hitting for the cycle, including a line-drive homer over the scoreboard that left the bat at over 110 MPH. Burkhart also scored 4 times himself.

The Lynx punched back after letting up 5 in the first, scoring 3 in the first and 2 in the second, with notable at bats coming from Dante Messina, Corbin Kinder, Eli Selby, and Quinn Blackman.

With the score knotted at 9 in the 8th, Ben Burkhart smoked a massive triple, and, with two outs, Dante Messina lined a go-ahead single up the middle, giving the Lynx the late lead.

The notable story on the pitching side was Senior Colby Slaughter, who came in in relief in the fourth and pitched a dominant 6 innings, giving up only 1 run on 2 hits, while punching out 7, absolutely shutting down the WashU hitters.

The Lynx are back in action tomorrow as they take on Arcadia at noon
