Saint John's (Minn.) mustered only three hits on the day but salvaged a doubleheader split with Bethel to open the 2024 MIAC schedule on Wednesday at Haugen Field at Becker Park. Bethel (8-7, 1-1 MIAC) scored eight runs (five earned) – four in each of the first two innings – en route to an 8-1 win in game one. But while Royals pitcher John Solfest threw a nine-inning no-hitter in game two, he did not get the decision. Junior first baseman Jackson Peter (pictured) gave SJU (9-7, 1-1 MIAC) the split with a two-out, walk-off single – the Johnnies' first hit of the game – in the bottom of the 10th inning for the 1-0 victory.

Sophomore Nate Droste threw a complete game to lead Olivet to a 13-3 run-rule victory over Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association rival Albion today at the Cutler Athletic Complex. Albion plated the first run of the game but the Comets proceeded to knock in six until the final inning. Albion drew within three runs but a seven run seventh for Olivet ended the game early due to the mercy rule. For the game, each of Olivet's nine starters reached base safely at least once. Nate Droste threw all seven innings, scattering eight hits and allowing three runs.

Adrian College opened its series with Trine University on Wednesday afternoon at Nicolay Field. After a schedule change due to weather, the series opener was moved to Adrian. The Bulldogs went on to 10-run rule the Thunder as they came away with an 11-1 victory. Adrian ended the game early on the 10-run rule with the help of a Jack Boike triple before scoring on the play after a Trine error. Daniel Shipman pinch hit where he walked and scored on a double from Bruder to win 11-1. Jaxon Clark went the distance on the mound picking up his third win of the season by throwing a complete game. Clark finished with seven innings pitched allowing one run on five hits with five strikeouts.

With an eighth-inning drive that cleared the Greensboro Monster, Isaiah Hairston made history for Guilford College on Wednesday evening at McBane Field, becoming the program record-holder for career runs batted in with 159, helping the Quakers fend off Averett University, 10-8 in Old Dominion Athletic Conference action. Hairston finished the night with three runs batted in across a 3-of-4 showing including a double and the record-shattering home run, walking once, scoring three times, breaking one of the program's longest-standing records held for 24 years by Kevin Moore '00, who had 157 in 161 career games. The graduate student, however, reached his mark of now 159 in just 131 career contests.

Minnesota Morris picked up what could prove to be two very important UMAC victories on Wednesday, taking down the University of Northwestern in a doubleheader by scores of 6-3 and 3-2. The two wins improve the Cougars to 7-10 (2-1 UMAC) on the season. Three-run innings from the Cougars in the third and eighth were enough to outlast Northwestern in the first game of the day. Parker Gilchrist (2-0) pitched into the eighth and Brady Kenning picked up the first of what would be two saves from him on the day by throwing the final 1.1 innings. Minnesota Morris put some early runs on the board in game two and Josh Osten (2-2) and Kenning (S, 2) combined to do the rest.

Mount Union erased a 5-1 deficit and won 8-6 over La Roche in a non-conference game at Thurman Munson Memorial Stadium on Wednesday. The Purple Raiders (15-6) were down 5-1 after three innings of play, however, exploded with a six-run fourth inning to take a lead they did not relinquish. Graduate Eric Schilling and freshman Luke Ickes were behind the offensive surge in the fourth as Schilling had a two-run single and Ickes connected on a 3-run double to right center field. Junior Chris Phillips improved to 2-1 after coming in for relief, pitching 3.1 scoreless innings and only allowed one hit, to go along with five strikeouts. No. 2 nationally ranked Baldwin Wallace defeated Penn State Behrend by a score of 19-3 in a non-conference game at Fisher Field. After originally being scheduled to play Hiram College today, BW (19-3) scheduled a last-minute game with Penn State Behrend (10-4) in which the Yellow Jackets scored each of the first seven innings including a three-homer inning in the third to combine for a season-high 19 runs. Joey Marousek finished with three hits along with three runs scored, an RBI, and his team-leading 16th stolen base today in the leadoff spot. Senior right-hander Aidan Bennett got the starting nod and the win as he struck out three batters and allowed only three hits in three innnings.

The Hiram Terriers swept Oberlin for the third time in the last four seasons on Wednesday afternoon at Dill Field, beating the Yeomen twice (6-2 and 9-6) to even their conference record at 2-2. Junior Jacob Koces twirled a gem on the mound behind a few home runs in Game 1, while Connor Bansek fueled the offense in a come-from-behind effort in Game 2. The long ball proved to be Hiram's friend this time around, as the Terriers jumped out to a 3-0 lead. That was all Koces needed to carry his team the rest of the way, as the right-hander stayed around the strike zone and didn't allow an extra-base hit. The Yeomen also couldn't record more than two hits in an inning against Koces, who finished with a winning line of 7.1 IP, 7 H, 0 R/ER, 0 BB, 6 K. Despite trailing 4-2 through the end of the third inning, Hiram stuck with its opposition and did more than enough to pull out the doubleheader sweep. Bansek had his best game of the season at the plate, ripping a career-high three doubles, which included a two-run double to break the scoring barrier in the first inning. Sam Boyle weathered the storm on the mound, working through a pair of home runs and departing the game with his team leading by one run. His final line earned him his team-high third victory of the year: 5.2 IP, 11 H, 5 R/ER, 0 BB, 3 K.

On a picture-perfect Wednesday afternoon at Kokernot Field, Sul Ross State hosted a future Lone Star Conference opponent in the University of Texas-Permian Basin Falcons. The Lobos had a good start, leading 9-4 through two innings. Things then changed in a split second. UTPB unleashed the floodgates by rallying for 11 runs in the top of the fifth to take the game 20-10 in seven innings. Seven Falcon hitters had a multi-hit game with Aaron Morales finishing 3 for 5 with two singles and a double. Richardo Franco went 3 for 4 with three singles and two RBI.

Roanoke College outslugged Ferrum College 17-7 Wednesday in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference contest from Salem-Memorial Ballpark. The Maroons have won eight of their last nine games and stand 9-2 in conference play, alone in first place. Ferrum opened a 2-0 lead in the first inning but a Jonny Wall two-run double tied it and Hayden Giordano singled to bring in Wall and make it 3-2. Wall hit his second of three doubles in the second to bring another Maroon home and RC followed with a four-run third and a three-run fourth to open an 11-4 advantage. Kyle Moshier homered as part of a four-run sixth and Roanoke plated single runs in the seventh and eighth frames.

The Fans at Scotland Yard got a peak into the future Wednesday afternoon as Maryville defeated future CCS-foe Asbury 11-6. While this game was just a nonconference, midweek matchup, The Collegiate Conference of the South announced on October 6, 2023, that the Eagles would become a full conference member, effective July 1, 2024. The Scots (11-11, 1-1 CCS) offense came to play on Wednesday racking up 14 hits, four walks and a hit-by-pitch. They recorded six extra-base hits in the contest, matching their season-high in that category. Ashton Whiteaker mashed his team-high fourth home run of the season to kick off the scoring in the first inning. After the Eagles (12-12) scored one in the top of the inning, the catcher hit a high fly ball out to left field, getting just enough carry to give him his team-high fourth long ball of the season. With the homer, Whiteaker tied his career-high from last season, doing so in nearly half the games played (22 in 2024, 43 in 2023). The Carlsbad, New Mexico finished the game 2-for-4 with three RBIs, a run scored, and a walk. Joining Whiteaker in the multi-hit club were Zach Devries, Jimmy Meredith, Daniel Montana, Nick Curry, and Max Bowers, each picking up two hits for the Scots.
