Marietta turns tables in final

Marietta won its record fifth Division III baseball national championship on Tuesday afternoon, defeating Chapman 18-5 in a winner-take-all game. The Pioneers rolled to a 9-1 lead after three and cruised to the victory.

The D3baseball.com Pitcher of the Year got the call today for Marietta in the first game, but Brian Gasser didn't get a lot of help from his defense in giving up seven unearned runs in a 15-4 loss

Chapman needed to take two games from Marietta on Tuesday to bring home its second national title. Chapman was playing in the title game for the second time in program history, while Marietta was playing for a record 11th time.
