La Roche emerged from the elimination bracket to defeat Randolph-Macon twice in the final of the Mideast Regional to earn its first trip to Appleton. It was not that much longer afterward that Emory joined the Red Hawks to extend their season.

Joining them are Cortland, Keystone, St, John Fisher, Trinity (Texas), UW-La Crosse, and UW-Whitewater.

La Roche scored three runs in the seventh and called upon ace Tanner Witt to close out the game as the Red Hawks defeated Randolph-Macon 4-3. It was a season of firsts for Randolph-Macon: their win totals is first all-time, they reached the regional finals for the first time and the outgoing seniors are the first class with 100+ wins (108).

Emory was a 15-2 winner over Shenandoah. After the Hornets plated two runs off starter Paul Merolla in the top of the first inning, it was all Emory as the Eagles scored 15 unanswered runs en route to the 13-run victory.

It is a touch of irony that on the final day of regional action it was the two top ODAC teams from the 2016 season who were given another loss to the season totals.
