Arcadia captures second straight MAC Freedom championship

AMBLER - For the second consecutive year and fourth time in the last seven seasons, the Arcadia University baseball team has been crowned conference champions as the Knights captured the Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) Championship after defeating No. 2 Misericordia University in game three by a 3-2 final after dropping the second game of the series 6-1 on Saturday. Carson Denham was named Tournament Most Valuable Player after his performance in game one.

HOW IT HAPPENED

GAME THREE: ARCADIA 3, MISERICORDIA 2

-Justin Massielo got Arcadia on the board in the bottom of the first when he singled to center bringing home Anthony Bruno.

-Matthew Sot doubled the lead in the sixth when he came up with the bases loaded and launch a sacrifice fly center scoring Bruno.

-Misericordia cut the lead in half with a run in the top of the seventh.

-Emilio Pallante pulled off a perfect safety squeeze in the bottom of the seventh scoring Griffin Murphy.

-The Cougars hit a solo home run in the eighth but were unable to tie the score.

-Hunter Sibley earned the win in relief with five innings, allowing two runs on four hits with three strikeouts and no walks.

-Nick Fossile started on the mound, tossing four shutout innings with one strikeout.

GAME TWO: MISERICORDIA 6, ARCADIA 1

-Misericordia jumped out to a 4-0 lead.

-Madera got Arcadia on the board with a bases-loaded sacrifice fly down the left field line that was inches from clearing the bases.

-The Cougars added two more runs in the eighth to finish the scoring.

-Zach Steiger pitched eight innings, allowing four runs on nine hits with one walk and four strikeouts.
