Husson earns third straight NAC championship

BANGOR, Maine – The Husson University baseball team won three straight North Atlantic Conference elimination games en route to claiming their third straight conference title with a 4-1 victory over SUNY Cobleskill on Tuesday afternoon at the Harold Alfond Diamond.

It was The Fighting Tigers (22-15) got the scoreboard first and led, 1-0, heading into the seventh when sophomore Ty Knowlton even the score with a solo blast over the left-center field wall.

In the bottom of the eighth, the Eagles (24-17) completed the comeback with three runs highlighted by a two-run RBI-single up the middle by junior Akira Warren. Freshman Sully Beers completed the scoring with a sacrifice fly to score graduate student Ethan Stoddard.

Junior Ryan Robb shut the door down pitching the final three innings en route to his fifth victory on the season. Sophomores Matt Wallingford, Ryne Rametta, and Connor Abood combined to pitch the first six innings as they allowed just a solo run.

Graudate student Kobe Rogerson, junior Jackson Curtis, Robb were all named to the NAC-Tournament team as well as MVP, freshman Keegan Cyr.

The baseball team will celebrate the night away and await their fate in the 2023 NCAA Tournament as the selection show is next Monday.
