Union, N.J. (3/4/11) – Juniors Mike Russo and Julian Diaz combined for today's shutout of visiting The College at Brockport as Kean University won by the final of 3-0 in non-conference action.

With the win the #2/4 Cougars improve to 6-0 on the year while the loss is the first for the Golden Eagles in their season opener.

Kean scratched across what would be the game winning run in the bottom of the first as junior Vinny Galya scored on an errant throw after swiping third, he reached on a leadoff walk.

The Cougars then added some breathing room as junior Ken Gregory lofted the Cougars' first homerun of the season, a two run shot, in the bottom of the sixth.

Diaz earned the win in relief.  He (2-0) tossed the final five innings allowing just two hits while fanning six.   Russo started the game and tossed four innings allowing one hit and two walks while striking out four.

Offensively Eddie Jennings was 2-for-3 with a double for the Cougars while shortstop Tom McCormick was 2-for-3 for the Golden Eagles.

Kean returns to action on Saturday when they face Franklin & Marshall in doubleheader fashion beginning at 11:30 a.m.
