Winter Haven, Fla.  –  Junior Edward Donovan (Milton, Mass.) pitched six strong innings to lead the Trinity College Bantams to a 6-4 win over the University of Chicago Maroons in the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational Baseball Tournament today at Lake Myrtle Field.   Trinity, which dropped the nightcap to the Maroons, 9-1, is 9-4 after today's games, while Chicago moves to 5-4 on the season.

Donovan allowed a run in each of the opening two innings, but settled in and pitched four straight scoreless innings.  Trinity held a 3-2 lead after six, before junior Kevin Mortimer (Spencer, Mass.) roped a two-run double in a three-run top of the seventh.  Trinity sent Ben Goldberg (Plainview, N.Y.) to the hill with a five-run advantage, but Chicago took advantage of an error to score two runs and cut the Trinity lead to 6-4.  A base-hit away from tying the game, Goldberg picked up a clutch third strike call on a full count, as Chicago left the bases loaded to end the game.

The Maroon freshmen carried Chicago in game two, led by lefty Alex Terry (Omaha, Neb.), who fired a complete game two-hitter with eight strikeouts.  Terry allowed just seven base runners and one unearned run, scored by sophomore Marc Crowley (Andover, Mass.) who reached on an error in the second before finding his way to home plate.  At the time, Chicago led 2-1, before freshman William Katzka (Wynnewood, Pa.) blasted a three-run home run that distanced the Maroon for good.

Chicago scored in every inning of the nightcap with the exception of the fourth.  Freshman Dylan Massey (Boynton Beach, Fla.) went 2-4 with a double and two runs.  Trinity freshman Ben Jaffee (Weston, Conn.) and sophomore Michael Rueger (Teaneck, N.J.) each went 1-for-3 with a walk.
