EMORY, Va. – Nick Windom's one-out single in the 10th inning gave Emory & Henry College an 8-7 win over Guilford College and gained a split of Wednesday's Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) baseball doubleheader. The Quakers (16-20, 9-7 ODAC) won the opener, 12-5, behind Bryan Bialecki's grand slam and Will James' team-leading fourth win of the year.

The Wasps (5-23, 4-11 ODAC) chased Guilford starter Borja Jones-Berasaluce in the fifth inning, but not before banging out seven runs on 11 hits. Micah Denny finished the fifth and gave way to Micah Winterstein, who threw four scoreless frames as the Quakers battled back from a 7-4 sixth-inning deficit.

Guilford tied the game in the eighth on Zack Montalbano's run-scoring double and a two-out RBI single by Jordan Slate. Kent Peterson doubled to lead off the ninth, but was forced out one batter later by D.J. Phillips' fielder's choice. The Quakers had two two-out hits in the top of the 10th, but Will Dingus retired Peterson with runners on first and second to end the inning.

Senior Sammy Stuart (1-3) relieved Winterstein in the home 10th and Keith Fenner greeted him with a leadoff single and stole second. He took third on Josh McMillan's single to left and scored on Windom's hit to center.

Windom and Nick Shulhof both had three of the Wasps' season-high 18 hits in game two. Colin Metz was two-for-four with a solo homer and scored twice. Dingus (2-1) pitched a scoreless 10th to earn the win.

Guilford's Jay Cox homered among his three hits in the nightcap. Peterson and Bialecki also had three hits for the Quakers. Kyle Wooden was 2-4 with a double and two RBI.

The Quakers pounded out 15 hits in the opener and grabbed a 6-1 lead with three runs in the first inning and three more in the third. Emory & Henry chased Guilford starter Eric Backus with three runs in the fourth, which made it a 6-4 game.

Bialecki's slam highlighted a five-run sixth inning that opened an 11-3 Quakers' advantage. James took over from that point, retiring the side in order in the sixth and seventh innings. Nathan Wimmer's leadoff homer in the eighth was the only run James yielded in his five-plus innings of work.

Bialecki also doubled in the first game and finished with a career-high five RBI. Wooden was three-for-four with two RBI.

McMillian had two hits and two RBI for Emory & Henry. Wimmer also had two hits and scored twice. Fenner (1-5) pitched six innings and took the loss.

Guilford closes the ODAC season Saturday (4/16) with a noon doubleheader versus league-leading Bridgewater College.
