SCRANTON, Pa.—Sophomore pitcher Matt Mosko (Hillsborough, N.J./Hillsborough) struck out seven and scattered five hits over six innings to lead The University of Scranton to a 16-4 victory over Marywood University at Pacer Field Thursday afternoon.

Mosko, now 1-3, got plenty of help from senior John Rogers (Allenhurst, N.J./Red Bank Catholic), who struck out five batters and did not allow a hit over the final three innings as the Royals snapped a three-game losing streak to improve to 9-14 overall.  The loss dropped the Pacers to 12-12.

Seniors Chris Stallone (South Plainfield, N.J./South Plainfield) and Jason Lane (Moosic, Pa./Riverside) led the Royals with four hits apiece and junior Matt Rayha (Willow Street, Pa./Penn Manor) finished with a pair.

Scranton took advantage of the error-prone Pacers to push nine runs across the plate in building up a 9-2 advantage after three innings.  All told, Marywood committed seven errors that led to nine unearned runs.

Stallone's four hits raised his batting average .353.  He also belted his second triple of the season and delivered a two-run single during a three-run rally in the third.  Lane, who raised his batting average to .255, drove in a run in the sixth with third double of the season.

Senior Joe Diskin (Clarks Summit, Pa./Abington Heights) finished with two hits and drove in a run for the Pacers.

The Royals will open a three-game Landmark Conference series against Drew University with a 9-inning game tomorrow afternoon at Connell Park beginning at 3:30 p.m. On Saturday, the teams will play a 7-inning doubleheader beginning at 11:00 a.m.
