(CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.) - The 24th-ranked Thomas More College baseball team fell, 4-3, to Washington & Jefferson College today (Sunday, May 8, 2011) in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) game at Thomas More Field in Crestview Hills, Kentucky.

With the loss, the Saints end the regular season at 25-7 overall and 15-6 in the PAC.  With the win, the Presidents improve to 19-18 overall and 15-6 in the PAC.

W&J scored one the first, one the fifth, one in the seventh and one in the ninth, while Thomas More scored one in the second, one in the third and one in the seventh.

At the plate the Saints had four players with multiple hits as sophomore shortstop David Kennett (Grove City, Ohio/Grove City) was three-for-five with a home run, a run batted-in and a run scored, sophomore right fielder Ryan Darner (Burlington, Ky./Covington Catholic) was three-for-four with a run scored, freshman second baseman Jason Handley (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills) was two-for-five with a RBI, and senior left fielder Max Robbins (Cincinnati, Ohio/Elder) was two-for-three.

Seven pitchers took the mound for the Saints as senior Michael Murray (Cincinnati, Ohio/Elder) started and got a no-decision as he pitched two innings giving up one run (earned) on two hits and striking out one.  Sophomore David Etscheid (Union, Ky./Ryle) suffered the loss as he pitched two innings giving up one run (earned) on four hits and striking out two.

The Saints have clinched at least the No. 2 seed in next week's PAC Championship Tournament.  If Grove City College and Westminster College split a doubleheader on Monday (May 9), the Saints will be the No. 1 seed.  The bracket and location of the tournament will be announced on the PAC website (www.pacathletics.org) on Monday night after 10 p.m.
