#3 Kean Breezes By Moravian, 11-3

Union, N.J. (2/28/12) – Sophomore Joe O'Connor was 3-for-4 with three RBI to lead the #3 Kean University baseball team to a 11-3 win over visiting Moravian College on Tuesday afternoon.

Senior Chris Cirlincione (1-0) picked up his first win of the season as Kean improved to 3-1 this year.  Cirlincione tossed seven innings allowing six hits and three walks.  He struck out four and allowed just one run.

The Cougars got on the board with a single run in the first inning thanks to a leadoff walk by sophomore Shane Alvarez.  After successfully moving to second on a sacrifice he swiped third, before crossing the plate on a sacrifice fly from O'Connor.  Kean opened up the game in the third with a four spot.  O'Connor provided more offense with a two RBI single while senior Dylan Laguna added an RBI single.

Moravian (2-2) broke up the shutout with a single run in their half of the sixth.  Senior Gregg Steinman recorded a two-out, RBI single, scoring Kevin O'Keefe who reached on a walk.

Kean then put the game away with six runs in the bottom of the sixth.

The Cougars were led by senior Eddie Jennings who was 3-for-4 with an RBI while Alvarez finished the day with a 2-for-4 performance with three runs scored and two RBI.  The Greyhounds received two hits apiece from sophomore Dan Seitzinger and rookie Matt Hanson.

O'Keefe suffered the loss for Moravian.  He allowed five runs, one earned, in four innings of work.

Kean returns to action on Wednesday when they host FDU-Florham at 2:30 p.m.
