CLEVELAND, Ohio - The Westminster College baseball team split a doubleheader with Case Western Reserve today. The Titans lost 4-1 in game one, but regrouped in the nightcap to win 2-0. Westminster improved to 14-7 overall, while the Spartans go to 15-9.

In game one, senior pitcher Patrick Mulligan (Brookfield, OH / Brookfield) (3-1) got his first loss on the season. Mulligan pitched six innings and gave up four runs (two earned) off seven hits. He walked three batters and fanned four.

The Titans, who were held hitless for the first four innings of the game, scored their long run in the top of the fifth to cut the Spartans' lead to 2-1. Junior Chris Ross (West Pittsburg, PA / New Castle) led off the inning with a single to center field. Two batters later, junior Tyler Robinson (Creston, PA / Norwayne) singled that advanced Ross to second. Junior Ty Miller (Clinton, PA / Hopewell) followed with a RBI-single, bringing home Ross.

The Spartans sealed the win with two insurance runs in bottom of the sixth inning.

For the game, Westminster left five runners on base and Case Western stranded six.

In game two, senior pitcher Vince Iosue (Euclid, OH / Notre Dame Cathedral Latin) (3-2) earned the win after having a no-hitter through four innings. Iosue walked two batters and struck out the same. Classmate Justin Prejsnar (New Castle, PA / New Castle) picked up the save, his first on the season. He pitched three scoreless innings and gave up two hits. Prejsnar walked none and struck out two.

Westminster first got on the scoreboard in the first inning after a run from senior Steve Perrotta (New Castle, PA / New Castle). The Titans would add another run in the sixth when senior Ethan Yeager earned a sacrifice bunt RBI. Junior Kyle Allen scored.

For the game, Perrotta had two stolen bases which brings his total to 10 on the season.

The Titans will play Presidents' Athletic Conference games for the rest of the season. Next up is at Grove City on Wednesday at 3 p.m.
