NEW CASTLE, Pa. - The Westminster College baseball team lost in a hard fought Presidents' Athletic Conference doubleheader to No. 25 Washington and Jefferson on Saturday. The Titans lost game one, 6-4, and game two, 3-2, in 11 innings. The games were played at Neshannock High School due to the weather.

Westminster senior Justin Prejsnar (New Castle, PA / New Castle) picked up his first loss on the season in game one and is now 5-1 on the year. Prejsnar threw 5.1 innings and gave up six runs (three earned) off eight hits. He struck out eight batters and walked four.

In game one, Westminster rallied down 6-2 in the bottom of the seventh inning. Junior Kyle Allen (New Wilmington, PA / West Middlesex) singled and advanced senior Justin King (Fombell, PA / Riverside) who got on from a walk. Senior Tim Wiand (Pottstown, PA / Owen J. Roberts) scored Allen and King off a double, his team-leading 11th double of the year. The Titans, however, were not able to produce anymore more runs.

Also earning a double-bagger were King and junior Tyler Robinson (Creston, PA / Norwayne).  Senior David Scafer (Hermitage, PA / Hickory) hit his third home run of the season, tying for first on the team.

In game two, Westminster senior Patrick Mulligan (Brookfield, OH / Brookfield) pitched a no decision in eight innings of work. Mulligan gave up two runs off six hits. He walked five and fanned seven batters. Junior Nick Grow (North East, PA / North East) got the loss and goes to 1-2 on the year. Grow pitched three innings and gave up one run (unearned) off three hits, while striking out two batters.

Down 2-0 in bottom of the fourth inning in game two, Westminster tied it 2-2 after a an RBI single from senior Ethan Yeager (Pottstown, PA / Owen J. Roberts) and junior Ty Miller (Clinton, PA / Hopewell).  The Titans had a chance to score more with only one out, but left two runners stranded. The Titans had another opportunity to score in the 10th inning with runners on the corners with two outs, but were unable to capitalize.

The Titans will look to avenge the Presidents tomorrow as they travel to Washington and Jefferson at 1 p.m. for a nine-inning game. Follow live stats here.
