FOREST GROVE – Ben Duerr (Fr., Lebanon, Ore.) and Therone Bridges (Jr., Vancouver, Wash.) each had two hits, but Corban scored five runs over the first five innings as the Boxers took an 8-4 loss to the Warriors Wednesday night in baseball action at Chuck Bafaro Stadium.

The Boxers (4-12) managed just seven hits in the contest, five of which came in the last four innings as Corban pitchers Justin White and David Hull combined to limit the Boxers to just two hits over the first five innings.

The Warriors (16-9) rode a trio of three-hit performances as they cobbled out a total of 12 hits against seven Pacific pitchers.  Marc Gallegos went 3 for 3 with two RBIs, Nate Williams went 3 for 4 with three RBIs and Kyle Kunkel went 3 for 5.

Corban began breaking the game open with a three-run second inning against Pacific starter Jimmy Brakebush (Fr., Portland, Ore.).  Williams drew a leadoff bases loaded walk, Peter Martin followed with a double to right and Williams scored the opening run on a ground out.  Kunkel followed with a double to left to score Martin, and Kunkel plated on a double by Gallegos.

Gallegos was hit by a pitch to open the fifth and Gregg Romero followed by drawing a walk.  Gallegos scored on Derek Legg's ground out and Williams plated Romero on a double to right.

Pacific used Corban's lone error of the night to jump-start a three-run sixth inning.  Kyle Treadway (So., Phoenix, Ore.) drew a leadoff walk and Austin Gallagher (So., Lake Oswego, Ore.) followed with a single.  Grant Rogers (So., Clackamas, Ore.) reached on a dropped fly ball, allowing Treadway to score from second.

Two batters later, Mike Thomson (Fr., Yorba Linda, Calif.) hit a long fly ball that landed in between three Corban fielders along the left field line, allowing Gallagher to score.  Duerr followed with a single to score Rogers.  Corban added one run in the seventh as Legg was hit by a pitch and scored on a single by Williams.  They tallied one more in the ninth when Williams singled to score Landon Frost.

Pacific added one in the home half of the ninth when Duerr was hit by a pitch and scored on a fielder's choice by J.T. Francies (Fr., Greeley, Colo.).

Hull earned the victory for Corban in relief, allowing just one hit and striking out one in two innings to improve to 2-1 on the season.  White, the starter, allowed one hit and two walks and struck out one in three innings.  Brakebush dropped to 0-2 with the loss, allowing three runs on four hits with two walks in two innings.

Pacific now heads to Southern California for four games against Division III competition.  The Boxers play a three-game series at Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on Saturday and Sunday, followed by a single game with Whittier on Monday.
