ASHLAND, Va. – Sophomore pitcher James Walsh (Mechanicsville, VA / Atlee) (2-3) kept Mary Washington (11-8) to five hits and two runs through five innings as the Randolph-Macon baseball team topped the Eagles 11-3 this afternoon on Hugh Stephens Field at Estes Park.

The Yellow Jackets (10-7, 5-1) immediately jumped on the board in the first as Mitchell Keeler (Mechanicsville, VA / Atlee) (3-for-4) belted his third homerun to drive in three runs and the early 3-0 lead. That momentum continued in the second inning as Nick Maiolo (Powhatan, VA / Powhatan) (1-for-4) sparked a six run rally bringing in three more Jackets on a double to center field. A pair of singles by Michael Trentham (Midlothian, VA / James River) (1-for-4) and Blake Saathoff (1-for-4) would tally the additional three runs to wrap-up the inning. Nate Meiners (Silver Spring, MD / St. John's Prep) (2-for-4) would record his second homerun of the year in the third, good for two RBI and the 11-0 lead.

Walsh finished the day with six strikeouts, five hits, two runs, and zero walks. The remaining R-MC pitching staff would hold the Eagles to one more run and four hits to solidify the 11-3 victory.

The Randolph-Macon baseball team travels to Shenandoah this Saturday March, 22 for a 12:00 pm ODAC doubleheader. The Yellow Jackets return to Ashland Wednesday March, 26 to host Virginia Wesleyan for a 3:30 pm contest on Hugh Stephens Field at Estes Park.
