Alpine, TX - A consistent LC offensive attack that scored at least one run in five of seven innings and a gutsy pitching performance by LC staff ace Madison Lachney helped LC take game one of the doubleheader 8-6.

The Wildcats jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning with a Mark Riendeaudouble off the left field wall that scored Matt ScottJermaine Liggins followed that two batters later with an RBI single to left field that scored Riendeau.

After SRSU scored a single run in the bottom of the first, LC answered with two one run frames in the third and fourth innings before putting a three spot on the board in the top of the fifth inning.

Liggins started the scoring in the fifth with another RBI single to left field and was followed by a Kyle Feazell double to left center. Feazell would eventually score on a fielding error by SRSU third baseman Shane Sawyer to give the Wildcats a 7-1 advantage.

Scott would add an RBI single in the top of the sixth to give LC an insurance run, as Lachney tossed his fifth consecutive complete game to earn his second win of the season.

The senior right-hander from Iowa, LA went the distance, giving up 11 hits and four earned runs against the ASC's top hitting team.

Liggins (2-for-4, two RBI) and junior second baseman Cary Myers (3-for-3, two runs scored) led LC offensively in game one of the doubleheader.

The Wildcats never seemed to catch a rhythm in any aspect in game two, as the Lobos out hit LC 13-4 in an 8-0 win to clinch the series.

SRSU starter Justin Vajgert was dominant, as he tossed a complete game shutout, giving up just four hits, striking out three, and walking just one as he picked up his first win of the season.

The Wildcats fell to 6-13 on the season with the series loss and 5-10 in ASC play. They will take on nationally ranked Mary Hardin-Baylor in a critical conference weekend series that will start Friday at 6 p.m. at Wildcat Field.

The Wildcats defeated the Crusaders in the first round of last season's ASC Tournament to advance to the first-ever ASC Championship Tournament in school history.
