La Plume, PA – Rob Blanc (Sandy Hook, CT/Trumbull) pitched 6.1 innings of no-hit baseball on Saturday afternoon and finished with eight strikeouts to lead Keystone College to a 9-5 victory over Colonial States Athletic Conference foe Immaculata University as part of the 2nd Annual Bill Howerton Strike Out Cancer Weekend.  The Giants, who also got home runs from Lymbel Guerrero (Lynn, MA/Lynn Classical) and Ricky Riscica (Greenwich, CT/Greenwich), improve to 8-9 on the season with their fifth straight victory while moving to 5-0 in conference play while the Mighty Macs slip to 7-8 this spring and 1-3 in the CSAC.

Keystone jumped out to a 2-0 lead after getting four hits in the first inning of play.  Dan Denton (Newtown, PA/Council Rock North) drove in Riscica with a double to the left field wall to open the scoring before scoring the Giants' second run when Guerrero blooped a single down the right field line.

Immaculata put their first runner on base with a one-out walk in the top of the second inning, but the battery of Blanc and catcher Cody Darley (Port St. Lucie, FL/Treasure Coast) ended the inning with a strike 'em out-throw 'em out double play.  The Giants' rode the momentum and added three runs in the home half of the inning as Riscica lifted a two-run single to left to make it a 4-0 game in favor of the hosts before Denton followed with another RBI double to score Riscica with Keystone's fifth run.

In the bottom of the third, Kevin Catherina (Ridgefield, NJ/St. Mary (Rutherford)) lifted a sacrifice fly to right field that scored Darley to make a 6-0 game.

The Mighty Macs loaded the bases with one out in the visitor's fifth on a pair of walks followed by an error, but Blanc worked out of the jam by inducing a fielder's choice at the plate before getting an inning-ending strikeout to maintain the shutout.

Immaculata leadoff hit Jason McCormick broke up Blanc's no-hit bid with one out in the top of the seventh inning with an infield single to put runners on first and second for the Mighty Macs before DiDomenico drove in Immaculata's first run of the game with a single to centerfield.  Joe DiGiaimo then brought home McCormick with a sacrifice fly to center to narrow the visitor's deficit to 6-2.

Guerrero led off the bottom of the seventh inning with a home run deep of the left field fence before Keystone restored their six-run cushion when Rick McLaughlin (Hamilton, NJ/Steinert) scored as Darley hit into a fielder's choice.  Riscica followed Guerrero's lead as the senior jacked his first collegiate home run to right-center to lead off the eighth inning, pushing Keystone's advantage to 9-2.

Immaculata closed out the scoring with three runs in the top of the ninth inning as DiGiaimo recorded an RBI base hit of the season before Rob Wallace lifted a two run homer to left.

Blanc leveled his record at 2-2 on the season, picking up the win after yielding just two hits in 6.1 innings of work and being charged with a pair of runs to go along with his 8 Ks.  Dan Maguire (Ocean Township, NJ/Ocean Township) worked 0.2 innings in relief of Blanc before turning the ball over to Adam Sosnowski (Dickson City, PA/Mid-Valley), who allowed one hit and struck out one in a scoreless inning of work while Junior Lazaro (Passaic, NJ/Passaic) allowed three runs on four hits while fanning two batters in the ninth inning.

Riscica finished the day 4-5 at the plate with three RBIs and three runs scored while Denton and Guerrero added two hits and two RBIs apiece.  McLaughlin enjoyed a 3-4 day at the plate for the Giants in the win as Keystone totaled 15 hits on the afternoon.  Darley also threw out a pair of runners attempting to steal in a solid game behind the plate.

Immaculata starter John Ryan (1-2) suffered the loss after being charged with five runs on eight hits in two innings of work.  Matt Dolan tossed four innings in relief for the Mighty Macs and surrendered three runs on six hits while Chris Goggin and Kyle Bacher pitched an inning each to close out the game.

McCormick and DiDomenico had two hits apiece to lead Immaculata, who had seven hits in the loss.  DiGiaimo and Wallace drove in two runs apiece.

The Giants and Mighty Macs will close out their regular season series on Sunday afternoon with a doubleheader at Immaculata.  First pitch is scheduled for 12:00 p.m.
