Montclair, NJ – Keystone College scored five runs in the fourth inning of Wednesday afternoon's non-conference baseball game before adding eight runs in the fifth on their way to a 15-0 win over the Red Hawks at Yogi Berra Stadium in Montclair, NJ.  Cody Darley (Port St. Lucie, FL/Treasure Coast) went 5-5 with four RBIs to lead the Giants offensively while Darren Lauer (New Hope, PA/Council Rock North) turned in a complete game shutout on the mound as Keystone (10-10) climbs to .500 for the first time this season while Montclair State falls to 8-12 this spring.

Kevin Catherina (Ridgefield, NJ/St. Mary (Rutherford)) drove in Darley with a sacrifice fly in the top of the third inning on Wednesday for the game's first run and Keystone pushed their lead to 6-0 the following inning as the Giants pushed five runs across the plate in the visitor's fourth.  Darley opening the frame with an RBI base hit before Domenick Montanaro (Egg Harbor Township, NJ/Egg Harbor Township) drove in two more runs with a single to center.  Catherina brought home Montanaro with a double to the alley in right center before scoring on a Dan Denton (Newtown, PA/Council Rock North) double down the left field line.

Keystone put the game out of reach by tacking on eight runs on seven hits and one error in the top of the fifth inning.  Darley hit a two-run single before Ricky Riscica (Greenwich, CT/Greenwich) drove in a pair of runs with a double to right field.  Denton brought home Montanaro with another RBI base hit and Chris Bzozowski (Westampton, NJ/Bishop Eustace) hit a two-run double before scoring on a Lymbel Guerrero (Lynn, MA/Lynn Classical) two-bagger.

The Giants closed out the scoring in the seventh inning when Darley singled to right to plate Guerrero.

Keystone season-high 15 runs came on a season-best 21 hits including seven extra-base hits.  Darley, along with collecting five hits and driving in four runs, also scored three times while Denton and Guerrero added four hits apiece for the Giants, who got at least one hit from eight of their nine starting batters.

Not to be overshadowed by the offensive outburst was the performance on the mound by Lauer, who turned in his finest outing in Keystone uniform to date.  The junior right-hander tossed a complete game and scattered seven hits – all singles – while walking just one batter to go along with four strikeouts.  Lauer improved to 2-1 on the season while lowering his ERA to 3.75 on the season.

Keith Murphy led Montclair State with a pair of hits in the loss.  The Red Hawks used five pitchers on the day with starter Nick Listro (0-1) being charged with the loss.

Keystone will now turn their attention to this coming weekend's key Colonial States Athletic Conference series with Gwynedd Mercy University (12-8-1, 6-0 CSAC).  The Giants will visit the Griffins on Friday at 3:00 p.m. for a single game before hosting Gwynedd Mercy on Saturday afternoon in a doubleheader slated to begin at 12:00 p.m. at Keystone's Christy Mathewson Field.
