The Baruch College Bearcats upset No. 16 ranked St. John Fisher College, 2-1, in the first game of a doubleheader played on Saturday afternoon at MCU Park (Brooklyn Cyclones) in Coney Island.

Paul Perezcame up big again on the mound with a complete game line of seven innings, six hits allowed, one earned run, five strikeouts and one walk for the victory on a warm afternoon near the Coney Island Beach. The win was his team-leading fourth of the season.

The Bearcats scored their two runs in the third inning.
Eric Ulinoand Matthew Balloneeach reached base with a single and Angel Tejedahit his third double of the season to left field to plate Ballone and Ulino for the 2-0 lead.

The visiting Cardinals scored their only run in their last at-bat with Joe Simmons hitting an RBI single to center field to score Malcom Kelsey.

The Bearcats held on for the 2-1 win for the team's first-ever victory against an opponent that is ranked in the national polls.

Tejada finished batting 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Ulino came up big defensively in the third inning throwing out a runner trying to steal third base to help shift the momentum of the game.

In the second game, St. John Fisher recorded a 7-0 shutout to split the doubleheader at the minor league stadium used by the New York Mets minor league affiliate the Brooklyn Cyclones.

Cody Wiktorski had the big hit with a two run single in the sixth inning. He finished batting 2-for-4 with two RBI. Cam Allen scored twice and Brad Rush walked three times to salvage the split.

Sean Badger earned the win (2-0) with four hits allowed and two strikeouts.

The Bearcats had four singles in the loss.

Baruch will return to action on Tuesday, April 15, with a 4:00 pm contest at Manhattanville College in Purchase, New York.
