Berry suffers first shutout at Emory, 5-0

ATLANTA -- Doug Heath and Alex McGill both had two hits, but Berry College lost at Emory, 5-0, on Wednesday. 

The Vikings dropped to 24-12 and the Eagles improved to 35-9. The shutout was the first suffered by BC this year.

Emory plated all the runs it needed after scoring three off starter TJ Montgomery in the first inning. Montgomery (3-4) worked five innings, allowed four runs (three earned) and gave up six hits. 

Braxton Teal allowed one hit in two innings of scoreless relief for Berry. Glen Williamson gave surrendered one run and four hits in the eighth inning. 

The Vikings had eight hits to EU's 11. BC, however, left eight runners on base.

Jordan Selbach went 3-4 to lead Emory hitters. Hans Hansen (7-1) got the victory. He tossed seven frames and scattered seven hits.

The Vikings travel to Centre for the final SAA regular season series of the year this weekend.
