La Plume, PA - Keystone College split a pair of non-conference baseball games on Sunday afternoon against St. John Fisher College with the Giants claiming the opener 6-1 before the Cardinals scored a 9-1 victory in game two to snap Keystone's winning streak at 14 games.  The Giants see their record move to 24-12 overall on the season while St. John Fisher now sports a 23-9 mark this spring.

In Sunday's first game, Keystone opened the scoring in the bottom of the second inning when Lymbel Guerrero (Lynn, MA/Lynn Classical) scored on an RBI groundout by Tyler Gurman (Bronx, NY/Lehman) before Gaston Rojas (Carmel, NY/Carmel) came home as Rick McLaughlin (Hamilton, NJ/Steinert) grounded out to short.  The Giants extended their lead to 4-0 in the home third when Ricky Riscica (Greenwich, CT/Greenwich) crushed a two-out, two-run home run deep over the wall in right-center.

St. John Fisher got on the board in the top of the sixth inning when Joe Simmons scored from third as Nick Flemister grounded into a double play, but Keystone responded in home half of the frame with two runs on three hits to open up a five-run advantage.  Pinch runner Joe Angelucci (Commack, NY/Commack) scored from first when Guerrero doubled off of the top fence in left-center before Rojas drove in Guerrero with a base-knock to left to extend the host's lead to 6-1.

That was more than enough for Keystone starting pitcher Darren Lauer (New Hope, PA/Council Rock North), who improved to 5-1 on the season after turning in an outstanding on the mound, hurling a complete game.  The junior right-hander scattered five hits and yielded just one walk while striking out four batters to earn the victory.

Riscica went 2-3 with two RBIs while Rojas added a pair of hits to pace the Giants' offense in the game one win.

St. John Fisher starter Mike Rynerson (1-2) was charged with the loss after allowing six runs, four of which were earned, on five hits and one walk while recording six Ks in six innings on the hill.

In the nightcap, St. John Fisher took a 3-0 lead in their first at-bats after getting RBI singles from Flemister, Brad Rush, and Cody Wiktorski as the Cardinals recorded five hits while sending eight runners to the plate in the top of the first innings.

Cam Allen gave the visitor's a 4-0 advantage with a leadoff home run to left-center to start the second inning before Chris Roeder hit an RBI single to left field in the third inning to give St. John Fisher a 5-0 lead.  The Cardinals stretched their advantage to six runs in the visitor's fourth on an RBI groundout by Malcolm Kelsey.

Kevin Luciano (Everett, MA/Cambridge Rindge and Latin School) put Keystone on the board with a leadoff home run – his first of the season - to left-center to start the sixth inning as the junior cut the host's deficit to 6-1, but St. John Fisher answered with a pair of runs in the visitor's sixth to open up an 8-1 lead with Mike Roman driving in the Cardinals' seventh run of the game on an RBI groundout before Rush scored on a wild pitch.  St. John Fisher closed out the scoring with  Rush drew a bases loaded walk in the visitor's seventh.

Cardinals starter Justin D'Amato improved to 7-1 after going six strong innings, allowing one run on three hits and three hits while striking out eight batters.  Ryan Smith closed out the game by retiring three consecutive batters, including three by the strikeout, after allowing a leadoff single to Luciano.

Keystone starter Dan Maguire (Ocean Township, NJ/Ocean Township) (2-1) suffered his first loss of the season after pitching 2.2 innings and surrendering five runs on eight hits and one walk while striking out two batters.  James Dunning (Scranton, PA/West Scranton) gave up one run on one hit while recording one K in 1.1 innings of work before turning the ball over to Jake Granteed (West Pittston, PA/Wyoming Area), who worked out of a bases loaded, one-out jam with one strikeout while pitching a scoreless fifth inning.  John Kranick (Jessup, PA/Valley View) was charged with two runs after the three batters he faced in the top of the sixth inning reach base.  Elvin Jorge (Bronx, NY/James Monroe) was charged with one run while walking three and striking out two in 1.1 innings on the hill while Junior Lazaro (Passaic, NJ/Passaic) retired the only two batters he faced in the seventh inning.

Luciano recorded three of the Giants' four hits in the game two setback while a single by Dylan Corl (Morrisdale, PA/West Branch ) was the only hit in the contest for the hosts.
