The LeTourneau University baseball team began its defense of its American Southwest Conference Tournament title with a doubleheader at Louisiana College on Friday in Pineville. The YellowJackets split a twinbill with the host Wildcats, losing game one - 1-0 and winning the nightcap – 7-4.

Senior pitcher Cody Whitley was the tough-luck loser for LeTourneau in game one. The Dickinson, Texas native surrendered a run in the first to the host Wildcats and did not allow a runner past second for the remainder of the game.

The LeTourneau offense stranded a pair of base runners in three innings in the loss. Five-different players had a hit including senior first baseman David Perkins, who was on base twice in the loss.
With one out in the bottom of the first, Santiago doubled to left field. Then, with two out, Garrett Parsons singled in James Santiago from second for the early 1-0 lead. Next, LC looked to extend its lead on a double by Jermaine Liggins; however, the YellowJackets relay from Caleb Pritchett in right to Kyle Jacobs at second to Dillon Yates got Parsons at the plate to end the inning.
