Baruch Finishes Florida Trip

The baseball team finished their Florida road trip by splitting a doubleheader against Gettysburg and dropping a single game to Thiel.

Paul Perez pitched a seven-hit shutout on Sunday with two strikeouts and one walk in a 1-0 win over Gettysburg to open the doubleheader. Jasdeep Buttar accounted for the winning run with an RBI single to score Matthew Ballone in the bottom of the sixth inning.

In the second game, the Bearcats dropped a 4-0 contest. Gettysburg limited the Bearcats to three hits and they scored in the third, fourth and fifth innings to salvage a split.

In today's final game in Florida, the Bearcats jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning against Thiel on a RBI ground out by Buttar and a sacrifice fly by
Nicholas LaForgia to score Jesus Ozuna Perez.

Thiel stormed back by scoring the next 13 runs, which included six in the third and five in the fifth innings, to lead 13-2.

The Bearcats scored their third run in the eighth inning on an RBI single by Ballone to score
Juan Balbuena. The game finished with a score of 13-3.

The baseball team will return home and play their first home game on Thursday, March 12, with a 3:30 pm contest at MCU Park against William Paterson.
