Keystone Opens 2015 Campaign With a Pair of Wins

Fort Myers, FL – Keystone College's baseball team opened up the 2015 season with a pair of victories on Thursday afternoon as the Giants kicked off their spring break trip in Florida by outscoring their opponents 16-2 on the day.  Keystone (2-0) won their season-opener 9-2 over Olivet College before shutting out the University of Minnesota Morris in their second game of the day, 7-0.
 
In Thursday's first game, Hector Vargas (Queens, NY/Forest Hills) earned the win on the mound for the Giants after hurling four innings of no-hit ball while striking out seven batters on the day.  Dylan Corl (Morrisdale, PA/West Branch ) and Louis Reyes (Port St. Lucie, FL/Treasure Coast) paced the Giants with three hits apiece in the win over the Comets, who fell to 1-6 on the season.
 
In game two against the Cougars (3-3), Darren Lauer (New Hope, PA/Council Rock North) worked six scoreless innings in which he scattered three hits while striking out four batters.  Reyes came off the bench to add a pinch-hit, three-run home run as the Giants continued their strong offensive start.
 
Keystone will look to remain unbeaten on Friday afternoon when they take on Thiel College (5-1) in a game scheduled to start at 12:00 p.m. in Fort Myers.
