Lakeland, FL --- Sean Greene (Hingham, MA) and Anthony Capuano (Stoneham, MA) drove in a pair of runs in the top of the ninth to lift WPI past Daniel Webster, 8-6, in a non-conference baseball matchup on Saturday. The first pitch was thrown at 9:26.53 in honor of Pi Day.

The Engineers end their Spring Break trip with a 7-4 mark while the Eagles slip to 3-6 on the season.

Greene snapped a 6-6 tie with a run-producing single to center field while Capuano added an insurance tally with an RBI ground out.

WPI grabbed a 4-2 lead after an inning. The first two runs came in on a miscue and a passed ball. Zach Blanchard (Warwick, RI) and Capuano followed with RBI singles. After cutting the deficit in half in the bottom of the second, Daniel Webster evened the game in the third. The Eagles then plated a run in the fourth and then the fifth for the 6-4 margin.

The Engineers made it a one-run ballgame with an Evan Lacroix (Methuen, MA) RBI single to right center. DJ Ouellette's (Watertown, CT) double in the seventh pushed Greene home to tie the game at 6-6.

Ouellette (3-for-5), Greene (2-for-5), Capuano (2-for-5) and Nick Comei (Haverhill, MA) (2-for-4) accounted for nine of the Engineers 13 hits. Greene, Ouellette, John Caliri (Hanson, MA) and Comei logged doubles in the morning contest.

Nick Borsari (Bolton, MA), Mike Vaitkunas (Auburn, MA), Dan Bettigole (South Windsor, CT), and Steven D'Agostino (Shrewsbury, MA) all saw time on the mound with Bettigole picking up the win and D'Agostino collecting the save.
