Vikes blanked at Rhodes

MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- Rhodes College defeated Berry College, 7-0, in Southern Athletic Association baseball play on Saturday.

Rhodes improved to 21-5 and 8-1 in the SAA. The Vikings moved to 14-11-1 and 5-4-1 in conference play.

Rhodes had 13 hits to BC's 5. Alfred Francis had a single and a stolen base for Berry.

Daniel Morris pitched 8 innings of shutout ball to lead the Lynx. He improved to 6-0, allowed 5 Berry singles, fanned 5 batters and allowed no walks.

The Lynx plated a run in the first inning and 3 more in the second off Berry starter Ben Jernigan. He pitched 6 innings, allowed 7 runs (5 earned), took the loss and dropped to 4-3.

Braxton Teal pitched 2 innings for the visiting Vikings. He gave up no runs and allowed 2 hits.

The teams play a doubleheader on Sunday in Memphis.
