Husson Splits Double-Header With Dickinson

WINTER HAVEN, FL - The Husson University baseball team split a double-header against Dickinson on Friday, winning the first contest 7-3 and falling in the second game 10-6. Husson's record is now at 2-7.

In the first game, Husson fell behind 2-0 after the top of the fourth, but tied it in the bottom half when Christian Corneil (Bangor, ME) blasted a two-run homer that also scored Kyle Bishop (Waterville, ME) to knot the game.

Bishop gave the Eagles the lead for good in the bottom half of the fifth, when his two-run double scored Brandon Gendreau (Brewer, ME) and Ryan Rebar (Harmony, ME). Bishop would score when Julien Boone (Washington, DC) put the ball in play and the third baseman committed an error.

Dickinson got a run back in the sixth, but Jordan Carter (Ellsworth, ME) launched a shot over the fence and JT Whitten (Waterville, ME) singled home Bishop giving the Eagles some insurance.

Ben Walls (Bar Harbor, ME) pitched 6.1 innings, giving up three runs and seven hits. He struck out five in the win.

In the second contest, Husson took a 1-0 lead after two, but Dickinson scored five in the third en route to the win.

Bishop went 1-4 with a pair of RBIs while Grendreau went 1-4 with a RBI. Brandon Reilly (Pemaquid, ME) picthed 4.0 innings and gave up six runs to take the loss.

Steven Haynes went 2-3 with four RBIs for Dickinson. Jimmy Robertson pitched 4.2 innings, giving up two earned runs to get the win.

The Eagles continue play on March 21 when they host Bates at 12 p.m.
