Bison's big bats lead team past Lasell, 14-6

DUDLEY, Mass. – Sophomore Matt Hardy (North Attleboro, Mass.) went 3-for-4 with three RBI and 3 runs scored as the Nichols College baseball team defeated Lasell 14-6 in non-conference action Wednesday afternoon.

The Bison (4-10) scored 14 runs in their second consecutive game as sophomore Mike Piekarczyk (Dudley, Mass.) also had three hits for the Bison while driving in a pair of runs and scoring one.

Freshmen Spencer Madden (Nashua, N.H.)Brendan Martin (Nashua, N.H.), and Nick Osma (Babylon, N.Y.) along with junior Benjamin Harrow (North Reading, Mass.) had two hits in the game for the Bison while Harrow also scored four runs as the Bison improve to 2-1 at home this season.

The Lasers were led by freshman Dom Mascolo (Waterbury, Conn.) with two RBI's and a run scored on three hits. Freshman Jonnathan Oliveira (Windsor Locks, Conn.) drove in a pair of runs while freshman Jesse Tejero (West Haven, Conn.) scored two runs as Lasell falls to 10-13 on the season.

The Bison pitched by committee but freshman Matt Dignan (Burlington, Mass.) picked up his first collegiate victory after tossing 3.1 innings and allowing three runs on six hits while striking out one. Freshman StigErik McElhinney (Dracut, Mass.)started the game for the Bison, tossing the first two innings before sophomore Adam Rigney (Niantic, Conn.) pitched the next two, then Dignan before freshman Anthony D'Agnone (Beacon Falls, Conn.) and sophomore Connor Fahey (East Brookfield, Mass.) closed out the game.

Junior Jake Malone (Harwich, Mass.) took the loss after throwing just one inning and allowing six runs (four earned) on two hits and four walks while striking out one.

The Bison host conference foe Gordon on Friday at 2:30 p.m. The Lasers host Anna Maria Thursday at 5:00 p.m.
