San Antonio, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor baseball team fell behind early and could not come all the way back in a 17-3 loss to Trinity University Tuesday night in San Antonio. The loss drops the Cru to 18-18 on the season. The 15th-ranked Tigers improve to 29-11 on the year with the victory.

Trinity put four runs on the board in the bottom of the first inning and added three more in the bottom of the second for a 7-0 lead. Rob Loewe plated Will Stafford with an RBI single in the top of the third to cut the gap to 7-1, but the Tigers stretched it to 10-1 with three more in the bottom of that frame. Trinity scored two more in the fifth for a 12-1 lead before Max Conway blasted a two-run homer for his first collegiate home run in the top of the eighth to pull the Cru to within 12-3. Trinity erupted for five more runs in the bottom of that inning to take the lead out to 17-3 and UMHB managed just one hit in the top of the ninth as the Tigers closed it out.

Conway had two of the Cru's six hits and drove in two of the team's three runs. Six different players had two hits to lead Trinity's 16-hit attack. Beau Attyah and Drew Butler both drove in three runs apiece for the Tigers in the game. Mikey Bielamowicz took the loss for the Cru to drop to 0-1 on the season. Mike Walker picked up the win for Trinity to go to 5-3 on the year.

UMHB will now close out the regular season with a three-game conference series at Concordia Texas this weekend in Austin. The Cru and Tornados will open the series with a 7:00 PM single game on Friday before closing out the weekend with a 1:00 PM doubleheader on Saturday. UMHB has already clinched a berth in the American Southwest Conference Championship Tournament.
