SEWANEE, Tenn. (Feb. 7, 2016) – An impressive offensive performance pushed visiting LaGrange to a 7-1 win over the Sewanee baseball team, Sunday, at historic Montgomery Field.

The Panthers swept the Tigers after Sewanee dropped two games on Saturday.

Down 3-0 heading into the bottom of the sixth, Sewanee finally got on the board as Tyler Mikkinen drove in leadoff hitter Trey Akins with two outs.

Unfortunately, LaGrange answered back with two runs on three hits in the top of the seventh. The Panthers then added a single run in each of the next two innings.

It was a long day on the mound for the Tiger pitchers. Josh Roberts took the loss after he allowed three hits and two runs in just 3.0 innings of work. Relievers Ryan Tillman, J.J. Clements, and Cole Hanks also allowed at least one run each.

LaGrange starter Eric Morell earned the win after he gave up no runs in 5.0 innings of scoreless work.

As a team, the Panthers combined for 11 hits, which included five doubles, and six RBI.

Akins led Sewanee with one hit and one run scored. The Tiger freshman has scored in each of Sewanee's first three games.

The Tigers return to action next weekend at nationally-ranked Methodist University.
