Aguadilla, P.R. (3/5/16) – The Kean University baseball team pounded out 20 hits en route to a 14-7 win over the University of Pittsburgh-Greensburg on Saturday in the Clemente Cup.

It was a see-saw affair in the middle innings with each team trading multi-run innings.  Tied at seven-all after the sixth, the Cougars (4-4) took the lead for good in the seventh with four runs all with two outs.  Senior Andy Lopez started things off with a single and classmate Ryan Reitmeyer followed with a single of his own.  Rookie Shayne Fontana drove them both in with a double down the line for a 9-7 advantage.  Kean didn't stop there taking advantage of two Bobcat miscues and Tyler Heisch finished the scoring in a frame with an RBI single.

The Cougars tacked on two more with an RBI single from Lopez in the eighth and an RBI triple from Heisch in the ninth.

Senior Chris Amato (2-0) earned the win in relief.  Amato tossed three and a third shutout innings allowing four hits and one walk with two strikeouts.

Offensively Lopez was 4-for-5 with two RBI while Heisch finished a homer away from the cycle with a 3-for-6 with three RBI.  Senior Sal Taormina provided three RBI with a 3-for-4 afternoon and classmate Ryan Kelley recorded three hits and scored three times.

The Cougars return to action on Sunday when they face Misericordia University.
