Berry Sweeps SAA Series From Rhodes

ROME, Ga. -- Devin Skelton singled into right field in the bottom of the 11th inning to score Ben Jernigan, as the Berry College baseball team defeated Rhodes College, 8-7, on Saturday. 

The Vikings swept the series with the win, improving to 21-8 overall and 7-5 in the Southern Athletic Association. The loss dropped the Lynx to 15-13 and 6-6.

Skelton and Casey Whitaker led the BC offense in the win, adding three hits apiece. They each knocked in three and two RBIs respectively. 

Three other Vikings added two hits in the win: Dusty TysonGrant Perkins and Brady Smith.

Rhodes was ahead, 7-6, in the top of the ninth. Tyson homered in the bottom of the ninth to send the game into extra innings.

JP Chamblee (3-0) earned the win on the mound. Chamblee tossed the final five innings for BC, allowing only six hits and three runs in the win. 

The Vikings travel to Atlanta to play Oglethorpe University in their next SAA match-up on Friday, April 1 at 6 p.m.
