GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.--The Adrian College baseball team took over sole possession of first place in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association on Tuesday after sweeping a doubleheader from host Calvin College for a second-straight day by scores of 6-4 and 24-8 in eight innings.

FOR ADRIAN
= Junior Ryan Dorow belted his third home run in as many games in the opener, and finished the afternoon 3-for-7 with two walks, two runs and three runs batted in.
= Senior Josh Knorr led the Bulldogs with six hits in eight at-bats with seven runs and three RBI to go along with two walks today.
THE OPPOSITION
= Leadoff batter Jordan VanderWall went 5-for-9 with three RBI in the doubleheader.
= In the nightcap, Mike Kempton and VanderWall both had two hits and drove in a pair of runs.
= Nate DeZwaan hit a two-run single as part of a four-run sixth inning in Game 2
HOW IT HAPPENED, GAME ONE
= Junior Ian Mikowski broke a 4-all deadlock with a RBI-single to left field in the top of the sixth for Adrian.
= Senior Gunnar Glodich scored the go-ahead run by leading off the inning with a single to right field, advanced to second base on a sacrifice by junior Brian Killinger, and came around to home plate on Mikowski's RBI.
= The Bulldogs added an insurance tally later in the frame on a throwing error.
= Adrian got off to a 3-0 start in the first inning, capped by sophomore Brian Guck's two-run single to right-center field.
= Both teams scored in the third. Dorow homered down the left field line leading off to extend Adrian's advantage to 4-0 before the Knights drew within 4-3 on a RBI-single by VanderWall and two-run single from Colton Wolfe.
= Calvin's Ryan Stewart equalized 4-4 with a solo blast over the left field fence in the bottom of the fourth inning.
= Senior starting pitcher Tommy Eng improved to 3-0 on the season, scattering 10 hits and four runs over six innings of work. He walked one and struck out five.
= Junior Zach Dunn earned a tough save by stranding two inherited runners in scoring position, retiring all three batters he faced.
HOW IT HAPPENED, GAME TWO
= Adrian scored in each of the first six innings, including a 10-run fifth, to cruise to the 16-run victory.
= Every starter in the Bulldogs' lineup registered at least one hit, including Knorr with four, senior Matt Andrus and Killinger with three apiece, and junior Dakota Cararo, Dorow, Guck, Glodich all with two.
= The Bulldogs got off to another quick start with four runs in the top of the first, highlighted by a pair of RBI-doubles by senior Jeff Gertley and Cararo.
= In the fifth, Adrian turned a 12-3 lead into a 22-3 cushion after scoring 10 times on just three hits, seven walks, a hit batter and three wild pitches. Glodich punctuated the outburst with a bases-clearing double to right field.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
= Dorow moved within three home runs of tying Dan Slagle for the Adrian all-time home run lead. Slagle slammed 25 from 1997 to 2000. Dorow has seven on the season to pace the MIAA.
= The Bulldogs set season highs of 24 runs and 21 hits in today's nightcap. The 10 runs in the fifth are also a season best for a single inning.
= With Trine splitting at Alma, the 9-3 Thunder fall one game behind Adrian for first place.
= Despite going 0-for-6 today, Steven Seager of Calvin still ranks second in MIAA batting average at .417.
= Knorr raised his average to a .400 clip, which paces the 'Dogs and ranks fourth in the MIAA.
