WINCHESTER, Va. – No. 11/14 Shenandoah University wrapped up its home baseball slate Tuesday afternoon with a 6-2 ODAC victory over Eastern Mennonite.

Sophomore Colin Morse (5-0) completed the season sweep over the Royals (15-19, 7-10 ODAC) by allowing two unearned runs over 7.0 innings.

Morse turned it over to seniors Ryan Mossman and Phillip Morse for the final six outs; the duo each worked 1-2-3 innings to clinch the victory for Shenandoah (26-8, 13-5).

The win also allows SU to continue to control its own destiny for the No. 1 seed at the upcoming ODAC Tournament. With two wins Saturday at Lynchburg in the regular season finale, the Hornets will clinch the top seed for the third straight season.

Junior Jake Loew put Shenandoah on top to stay with a two-run home run in the sixth.

With the scored tied at 2-2 following a two-run fourth for the Royals, Loew took EMU starter Aaron Hooven (3-3) deep over the right field fence for his fifth home run of the spring.

Loew plated Tristan Baker, who had led off the Hornets sixth with single up the middle.

Shenandoah added single runs in the seventh and eighth, the latter on a Lew Johnson two-out single to right, to provide the final margin of victory.

Hooven, who retired the first eight SU hitters in order, was victimized by an error on the ninth hitter he faced that extended the Hornets third.

Baker made the Royals pay for that error as he drove in Robert Marcelle, who had reached on the error, and Joe Coleman, who drew a two-out walk.

Baker and Johnson each had two of the Hornets six hits on the day.

Colin Morse struck out four and walked three in his 7.0 innings of work.

Shenandoah travels to Elizabethtown tomorrow for its final non-conference game of the season.
