Wesley walks off in night cap of doubleheader against No. 12 Oswego St.

DOVER, Del. – The Wesley College baseball team split a doubleheader against the No.12 ranked Oswego State Lakers on Sunday.

Wesley dropped the first game of the doubleheader to Oswego, 7-2.

Wesley scored runs in the bottom of the sixth and seventh innings. Chris Seibert came through with a RBI single in the sixth to center field after a one-out double by Trey Mears. In the seventh, Michael Piccirillo scored from third on a sacrifice fly to center by Chris Bramble.

Mike Calvarese went 2-for-2 with a double in the first game.

Sam Meck went six innings for the Wolverines with three strikeouts.

Mitchell Cavanagh struck out 10 batters for the Lakers in five innings.

Wesley walked off winners in the game two of the doubleheader, picking up the 4-3 win over Oswego.

Oswego picked up the early 2-0 lead through three and half innings. After Reston Miller walked the bases loaded, Cody Ellis cleared the bases with three-run double down the left field line to give the Wesley the 3-2 advantage.

Oswego's Eric Hamilton tied the ballgame at three in the top of the sixth inning with a lead-off home run to left field.

In the bottom of the seventh, Trey Mears came through for Wesley with a two-out, game-winning single over the second baseman's head that scored Deshawn Aiken from second to propel Wesley over Oswego.

Cody Simet earned the complete-game victory in the second game. Simet struck out four Lakers while only giving up four hits, two walks and two earned runs. Mears and Will Barton each notched two hits in the victory. 

The Wolverines (4-1) will be back in action next weekend when they host the St. Joseph's (Brooklyn) Bears in a three-game series. Saturday's doubleheader against the Bears gets underway at noon from Bob Reed Field.
