DOVER, Del. - The Wesley College baseball team rolled to a 9-0 win over the Penn St. Harrisburg Lions on Wednesday to open up Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) play.

Wesley was powered by seven shutout innings by starter Alex Marrs. Marrs struck out six Lions while only allowing a five hits, a walk and one hit batter.

Wesley tallied a run in every inning except the fourth and the seventh innings. Wesley also scored eight of their nine runs with two outs in the inning.

After a single and a stolen base by Trey Mears in the bottom of the first, Chris Seibert knocked a RBI double to center field.

Wesley then notched runs in the second and third innings. In the second, Aaron Briggs came around to score from first base following a throwing error by the Lions' third baseman. Following a leadoff walk and two stolen bases by Mears, Chris Bramble reach on a bunt single to plate Mears from third.

After a balk put two runners in scoring position in the fifth, a wild pitch brought William Foster home to put Wesley up 4-0.

Wesley put up four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning. Will Barton came around to score on a RBI single by Seibert. Two batters later, Mears scored from third on a wild pitch. An error by the Lions' pitcher covering first allowed Seibert and Mike Calvarese to score on the play.

In the eighth, Seibert's third RBI of the day on a single up the middle gave Wesley the 9-0 advantage.

Sam Meck and Cody Simet each pitched scoreless frames in the eighth and ninth innings to seal the win for Wesley.

Seibert went 3-for-5 for Wesley while Mears, Bramble, Foster and Briggs each tallied two hits in the win. Mears also added four stolen bases today to bring his total to 20 for the season.

The Wolverines (7-2, 1-0 CAC) will be in action tomorrow when they host the Eastern Eagles in a non-conference contest. First pitch from Bob Reed Field is scheduled for 3 p.m.
