RICHMOND, Indiana – The Earlham College baseball team stole ten bases in an 8-2 victory over Wilmington College to complete a three-game sweep at Sadler Stadium on Sunday.

Wilmington had its leadoff runner reach base in the first two innings, but both were picked off by Earlham catcher, senior Cody Krumlauf.

Earlham scored broke the scoreless deadlock in the bottom of the fourth when senior Nate Lynch singled to open the inning and stole second and third in succession. Senior Brennan Laird then singled home Lynch.

After neither team scored in the fifth, Wilmington tied the game with a double in the top of the sixth. In the bottom of the frame, however, Earlham answered as Laird once again singled, scoring Lynch and senior Matt Barger after both had stolen bases. The hosts would go on to score two more runs in the inning and take a 5-1 lead.

Earlham held Wilmington scoreless in the top of the seventh, and plated three runs in the bottom half of the frame to put the game away.

Freshman Colin Greve got the start for Earlham and allowed just one earned run and six hits over 5.2 innings pitched. Junior Matt Mathies came in relief and earned the win after pitching 2.1 innings.

Jared Ferenchak took the loss for Wilmington, allowing four earned runs in 5.1 innings pitched. Wilmington pitchers recorded just one strikeout the entire game.

Lynch was the lone Quaker to record three hits, going 3-4 on the day with an RBI while also stealing four bases. Laird added a 2-3 day with three RBIs while senior Eric Elkus had one hit for three RBIs.

Earlham stole 10 total bases in the game and left just four runners on base.
